Jimmy Bondoc echoes President Rodrigo Duterte’s warning about ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal

Jimmy Bondoc has once again reiterated President Rodrigo Duterte’s view towards ABS-CBN franchise renewal.

On his Facebook account, Jimmy aired his opinion and support for Duterte’s plan on why the network does not deserve a renewal, as franchising is a privilege and ABS-CBN for him has misused it.

“The renewal of ABS’s franchise has really been touchy, because though they have perpetrated horrible acts against public interest, there remain some very good individuals inside the network. Though we should not confuse good individuals with the network as an entity, syempre mahirap pa rin paghiwalayin.

“HOWEVER, as we all saw during the SEAGames demolition job, EVEN GOOD REPORTERS were manipulated by their bosses to create HORRIBLE slants and OUTRIGHT LIES which almost ruined the games.”

Jimmy gave an example of how the network supposedly manipulated its reporters to create ‘horrible and outright lies,’ specifically about the kikiam issue.

This issue stemmed from a TV interview with Let Dimzon, the coach of the Philippine women’s football team, who complained about the food that was served to the athletes.

“I’m not sure kung paano ang arrangement ng PHISGOC, but the quality and quantity of food is not enough. Sa variety din, like for this morning, hindi enough ‘yung rice and kikiam and egg. Walang nutrients,” Dimzon said. This interview gave rise to the kikiam issue.

The hotel in Cavite verified that kikiam was never part of their menu and was in fact, chicken sausage.

Last June 2, 2019, Jimmy claimed he favored an ABS-CBN franchise renewal since it would mean that the network has paid taxes, followed labor practices, and agreed to disseminate nothing but real news.

He said: “Kasi, kapag na renew, ibig po sabihin ay:

– napagbayad na sila ng buwis, or napag-usapan na ang paraan ng pagbabayad;

– napagkasunduan na ang News, at ang paraan upang maiwasan ang Malicious News, at ang mga administrative sanctions sa mga lumalabag sa mga tuntunin kaugnay nito;

– tutuloy ang mga paborito ninyong palabas, pero magkakaroon na ng “healthy divide” sa pagitan ng politika at ng sining. Hindi na marahil magagamit ang mga palabas upang siraan ang mga ahensya ng gobyerno;

I am telling u the TRUTH: OK LANG SA AKIN YUN. That is democracy.
