Wowowin co-host Herlene ‘Hipon Girl’ Budol made a great acting debut on Magpakailanman.
Herlene’s “Yaya Dubai and I” episode in Magpakailanman won over rival Maalaala Mo Kaya which featured Julia Barretto.
Based on the ratings report by AGB Nielsen NUTAM People survey, Magpakailanman scored a 10.9% rating, 2.8% higher than MMK’s 8.1%.
Kantar Media, on the other hand, reported a very slim win by MMK at 17.5% vs 16.7% of Magpakailanman.
With Julia’s presence in MMK, it’s a dismal outcome for the Kapamilya drama anthology to score only a margin of just 0.8% considering its competitor featured a newbie in acting.
Some are speculating that MMK’s underwhelming ratings result is still affected by all the controversies that Julia and her family have gone through.
Meanwhile, aside from winning in the rating game, Magpakailanman and Hipon Girl also scored good feedback from the netizens.

Hipon Girl started as a contestant of Wowowin‘s Will of Fortune segment. Because of her wit and cool personality during the contest, her video became viral garnering more than 4 million views in just two days. This prompted Wowowin to get her as one of the show’s co-hosts.
