- A Kapuso show is speculated to replace SPS in its timeslot
APT Entertainment line producer Rams David finally decided to speak up about the primary reason behind Sunday PinaSaya‘s finale after four years.
He confirmed that Sunday PinaSaya (SPS) will have its last episode on December 29.
In an interview with PEP on December 9, Monday, Rams said that the show was not canceled. It was the end of APT’s block time contract with GMA-7 which caused its closure.
“Ano naman e, parang… alam naman namin kasi it’s contract, contractual kasi yung show.”
SPS is a blocktimer on the Kapuso Network since it was produced APT Entertainment, Inc. with Rams as its president.
He revealed that SPS actually got extended by several months making them reach four years on the air.
“Yes, iyon yung latest. Ika-apat na taon. Na-extend pa kami ng ilang buwan.”
Though it had good ratings throughout its run, Rams stressed that the network holds the final decision.
“Siyempre, it’s up to the network, e—kung ano yung plano nila.
“So we respect their decision naman, so okay lang naman.
“Happy kami na tumagal na kami ng ganung maraming taon, at marami kaming napasaya.
“That’s important, e. Yung nabigay namin yung maganda sa viewers. At tsaka tumatak sa kanila, na minsan sa buhay nating lahat sa Pilipinas, may isang Sunday PinaSaya na lumabas sa television for four years or more than four years na nagpasaya sa kanila.”
Rams said that the production staff and the SPS artists were told of the show’s impending end in a meeting with Antonio P. Tuviera, APT Entertainment, Inc. head.
Rams said, “We had a meeting.Nag-meeting kami two weeks ago, three weeks ago para i-announce.
“Kasama rin si Mr. Tuviera, since si Mr. Tuviera ang Chairman.”
He admitted that it was a tearful farewell for them which he compared to a school “graduation”. Queen of Comedy Ai-Ai Delas Alas was said to be the first one who heard the sad news last November, one month ahead its finale.
The headliner of the show Marian Rivera, along with Ai-Ai and Alden Richards already have other projects line up. Marian will star in First Yaya, her new soap for the first quarter of 2020 while Alden continues his reign in the Kapuso primetime with The Gift series.
But how about the other SPS artists?
“Hindi ko alam kung… yung iba siguro kukunin din sila for the new show,” Rams surmised.
On December 8, Sunday, GMA Network’s social media account posted an online artcard teaser for a new Kapuso TV program.

The artcard only contains the date 01.05.2020 or January 5, 2020, with the hashtag #AyOS. It also shows art icons of a piano and a play button. Speculations are it is the replacement of Sunday PinaSaya.
Among the Kapuso artists who shared the postcard online and are expected to join the cast of the new show are Kyline Alcantara, Rayver Cruz, Miguel Tanfelix, Kim de Leon, Ken Chan, Cassy and Mavy Legaspi, Paolo Contis, and Christian Vazquez.
