Kapuso actress Bianca Umali was the lone GMA artist who was chosen by HBO to audition for the series Halfworlds.
In a pocket interview with the press, Umali revealed that she was the only Kapuso artist personally handpicked by HBO Asia to star in the third season of the fantasy thriller series.
According to her, most of the auditionees were from the Kapamilya network and she felt proud that she was the only Kapuso who was eventually chosen to join the cast.
“Yes po nag-audition. Sabi po nila they..meron po kasi silang mga…have handpicked names kung sino lang po ang gusto nilang ipag audition. So it was a very very short list and I was the only Kapuso they asked to audition. I was the last one..puro Kapamilya, ako lang po yung Kapuso,” Bianca told reporters.
During the course of the interview, Bianca also gave a summary of what the series is all about and what people can expect from the latest season.
“Actually ang Halfworlds po meron na po syang three seasons. Each season is done in different countries. The first one was in Thailand, the other season was in Indonesia, the third season is dito sa Pilipinas.
“Ang stories po nito, ng Halfworlds is focused on folklore of the countries. Dito po sa atin ang ating mga engkanto. Meron po tayong kapre, manananggal, aswang, and tyanak,” she said.
As for preparations for the series, Umali said they are currently in training for the start of their shooting next year.
“We have been preparing for the past three months already, ahmm workshops, training, script readings and characterization and also yung nga po yung binubuo po namin yung cast. But the shooting will start next month. Will be shooting from January to April, we have 40 shooting days,” she said.
Asked about the premiere of the latest season, Bianca replied, “Hindi po namin masabi, pero the target is fourth quarter next year so baka po mga September, so matagal pa, matagal pa po because we’re shooting for 40 days starting from January to April.”
