Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo recorded a four-win streak as a judge/coach of the singing reality singing competition of ABS-CBN, The Voice. Throughout the seasons of the show, the singer-actress honed four talented individuals who later became grand champions of the competition.
Sarah was the first-ever judge to achieve the record among of The Voice panel of mentors that included Bamboo Mañalac, Lea Salonga, Sharon Cuneta, and Apl.de.ap making her a runaway winner judge of the competition.
The Voice Kids Season 1 Grand Champion Lyca Gairanoid was the first victor under Team Sarah. Her rendition of “Narito Ako” by Regine Velasquez became her winning piece at that time in 2014. The 14-year-old singer is currently a talent of MCA Music Inc. (Philippines) and appears occasionally on Kapamilya shows.
In 2015, Jason Dy won The Voice PH Season 2 also under Team Sarah. His heartful performance of “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” by Ariel Rivera placed him as the Grand Champion. His self-titled studio album produced and released on September 4, 2015 with the hit singles like ‘Caught In That Feeling’, ‘Milagro’, and ‘Walang Iwanan’ became a huge success.
Later in 2017, Jona Soquite was the next to bring home the bacon for Team Sarah in first season of The Voice Teens. Her high-pitched performance of the song “I Believe I Can Fly” by R. Kelly made her soar high in the competition.
This year, the latest and fourth Grand Champion under Team Sarah of The Voice Season 4: Kids Edition is Vanjoss Bayaban. His final number, “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban got him the title of The Voice champion.
Sarah or Sarah Asher Tua Geronimo first competed on TV as a contestant on the singing contest Star for a Night aired on IBC in 2002. At the age of fourteen, she won the grand prize that included PHP 1 million and a managerial contract from Viva Entertainment.
She released her first and multi-platinum album Popstar: A Dream Come True in 2003 while her acting debut was a supporting role in the film Filipinas (2003). Throughout her career, Geronimo has received 15 Awit Awards, 8 Aliw Awards, 28 MYX Music Awards (the most in the award’s history), and a FAMAS Golden Artist Award so far.
