Not everyone is happy with this year’s ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID and actress Chai Fonacier is one of them.
Chai, who previously starred in the Kapamilya network’s TV series Halik, aired her negative opinion via Twitter on Wednesday.
Revealing her “unpopular opinion,” the actress tweeted that the people behind the network’s latest Christmas station ID have perhaps become “lazy” to make it more sensible for everyone.
“Unpopular opinion: tamad gumawa ng matinong tono ‘tong mga ‘to,” she wrote.

A netizen even tried to dissuade her by saying it was probably due to “lack of time” and not because of laziness.
But the actress said: “Time? Not an excuse.”
Chai’s reaction stemmed from the tweet of a certain Marco Dava, who also shared his “popular and unpopular” opinions about the new ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID.
For his “popular” opinion, Marco said: “ABS-CBN Christmas station IDs are heartfelt and relatable to most.”
However, he said, “ABS-CBN needs to stray from mainstream traditional concepts of family and instead acknowledge the importance of love, kindness, and sympathy that transcends the bloodline.”

“Their station IDs effectively and really do pull heartstrings. No question on that. I do, however, think that there’s more to Christmas than their portrayal of the celebration… I think it’s time we shed light on non-traditional families,” he wrote.
“Talk about single parents playing both roles, gay couples raising a child, teenagers being kicked out of the house, and people finding comfort and a family in friends and communities,” he added.
Marco said these are real-life stories that deserve to be heard and recognized.
“More importantly, these are real individuals who emanate the same love, kindness, and sympathy that we do,” he stressed.
“So if we can all agree that Christmas is a season for everyone to share [the] love and celebrate kindness regardless of, say, constructs of gender or religion, then we can be more encompassing in portraying these celebrations,” he added.
He noted that “mainstream media should be more representative and inclusive in covering narratives and plights.”
Marco concluded that this year’s ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID is just “meh.”
