All roads led to Baler, Aurora for Avon Philippines’ The Great Glam Race, where budding names in the online community gathered for insider scoop on beauty and content creation.
The Great Glam Race is the latest in Avon’s efforts to support the local beauty community.
Under the mentorship of Avon’s partner experts, 26 fresh faces learned new skills, tried new techniques, and discovered how to use their platform to improve the lives of people around them.
In the end, makeup artist Kristel Yap (IG: @beautybytellie) was dubbed as the Ultimate Glam Queen for her practical, no-nonsense approach to beauty and advocacy. Her mastery of color—trained in South Korea, no less—combined with her natural grace and heart for true beauty secured her win in the 3-day affair.
Shaping the future of the beauty community
The first day of The Glam Race featured talks from content creator Camille Co on establishing one’s personal brand online. In true Avon fashion, the next talks from transgender icon Kevin Balot and alopecia awareness advocate Abby Asistio discussed how one’s online clout can be used to empower and create safe spaces for others.
For the second day, the Glam Racers were given talks about the future of Beauty and how content creators should be able to predict trends to separate themselves from the pack. These talks were given by YouTube Beauty Guru Raf Juane, Beauty Vlogger Say Tioco, and Lifestyle Vlogger Ashley Yap, together with Mintel beauty trend expert Gilyanne Blancaflor.
The Glam Racers applied their learnings in an editorial-style photoshoot that showcased not just their beauty but their ability to pool skills with others to create even more beauty in the world. The winning group led by Say Tioco got to hang out with the entire panel, as well as beauty icon Kelly Misa-Fernandez.
The third and final day culminated with the ultimate Great Glam Race task: The Glam Racers shared all their learnings to a bigger audience online by producing their own makeup tutorials on IGTV.
For winning The Great Glam Race this year, Kristel Yap will be featured in a cover of Avon’s upcoming catalog. All the Avon products used in her winning IGTV makeup tutorial will also be released in a special set for the Philippine market.
