• James Reid and Nancy McDonie have been paired up in a series
• Fans were worried that James and Nadine Lustre will face troubles as a love team
• James and Nadine’s reunion projects are currently on hold
James Reid has been paired up with Nancy McDonie of Momoland as decided by his father Robert Malcolm Reid of Reid Entertainment Inc.
Instead of his usual on-screen and real-life partner Nadine Lustre, James is now set to lead the upcoming ABS-CBN TV series Soulmate with the Korean performer.
The series will be produced by Dreamscape and directed by Antoinette Jadaone, who also directed James and Nadine in the teleseryes On The Wings of Love and Till I Met You.
It had earlier been announced that James and Nadine were going to work on the remake of the Korean movie Spellbound, but it was put on hold. A TV series also lined up for the couple was also cancelled.
James had left the talent management company of Viva Artists Agency just this September after seven years. Nadine was also rumored to follow his move but she denied this. JaDine fans are currently dismayed since it seems as if James’ new managers are setting aside Nadine for other actresses. Fans are also worried that this may break apart the two as a love team.
James was supposed to top-bill the movie Pedro Penduko but due to his spinal injury, the actor decided to back out.
Meanwhile, Nadine also withdrew from her role in the Pinoy remake of the Korean hit movie Miracle in Cell No. 7 due to health problems. The actress last starred in two Viva movies this year, Ulan and Indak. Sadly, the two movies did not make it big in cinemas and were considered flops. Many speculated that this reason caused her miss new opportunities including her projects with James.
Recently, Nadine’s dad Ulysses Lustre, as well as her mom Myraquel Paguia-Lustre, posted cryptic messages about their daughter on social media. Netizens believed that this might be in connection to the newest series of James with leading lady Nancy.
Ulysses set the social media abuzz after posting another cryptic post with the terms “flop” and “high gross” presumably talking about Nadine and Kathryn Bernardo’s movies. Kathryn’s last movie Hello, Love, Goodbye became the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.
It was speculated that his rants were aimed to discredit Kathryn but he later clarified that she was not the subject of his post.
