Barretto sisters Gretchen and Marjorie reportedly had an altercation during their father’s wake last Wednesday, October 16.
ABS-CBN news’ source said Gretchen was calm during the moment and it was Marjorie who seemed irate and fuming while initiating the fight.
President Rodrigo Duterte was seen mediating between Gretchen and Marjorie. He also asked the two to shake hands out of respect for their father despite Marjorie’s refusal.
Gretchen then confimed these events as true. In contrast, Marjorie claimed that these were lies and that stories about her were twisted.
Marjorie posted her statement on Instagram. “Please hold your judgement and opinions until he (her father Miguel) is laid to rest, then WE WILL FOR THE FIRST TIME SPEAK THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH. I would like to ask for prayers too. Because when I speak the truth, my life and my children’s life will be put in danger. My sister’s boyfriend is powerful in a very bad way (and I don’t mean Tony Boy) And in speaking the truth I won’t be able to leave his name out.”

In response to this, Gretchen then shot back the allegations at her sister through a lengthy Instagram post. She also shared a video of their confrontation that day to prove that she was telling the truth.
“Quoting Marjorie Baldivia este’Echiverrie 🙏WE WILL FOR THE FIRST TIME SPEAK THE TRUTH & NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH🙏ITS A BITTERSWEET FEELING THAT YOU, truly for the first time speak the Truth, IN OTHER WORDS , I AM GRATEFUL for WE WILL ALL WAIT FOR THAT TIME (heres a video that was forwarded to me by @marisol0125 MY TRUTH” Gretchen wrote.
She also attested the video was not “fake news” which was supposedly claimed by Marjorie.
“This video IS NOT FAKE NEWS AS BEING CLAIMED by Marjorie Baldivia Echiverrie. ( FYI MY MOM SPOKE TO ME & ASSURED EVERYONE THAT SHE WILL TELL ALL REGARDING OUR FAMILY FEUD & THE DAY OF MY DADS BIRTHDAY & Who CAUSED MY FATHERS ATTACK .YOUR THREAT TO SUE ME FOR LIBEL ? I PLEAD NO, I’M SCARED….” Gretchen stated.
Gretchen debunked Marjorie’s denouncement of her long-time partner Tony Boy Cojuangco whom the latter described as “powerful in a bad way.” She said it was the other way around as Marjorie’s boyfriend (long rumored to be Congressman Recom Echiverri) has cases filed against him.
“AND AS TO MY BOYFRIEND WHO IS POWERFUL IN A BAD WAY ( like you say ) YES HE IS POWERFUL ( in a good way , Not bad as you claimed. Your boyfriend is also POWERFUL & certainly IN A VERY BAD WAY, Countless corruption cases i was told, NOT TO MENTION, NUMEROUS MOLESTATION CASES, AM I CORRECT?”
The actress then revealed Claudine’s plan of filing a molestation case against Marjorie’s boyfriend.
“I WAS INFORMED THAT @claubarretto WILL FILE A MOLESTATION CASE AGAINST YOUR POWERFUL BOYFRIEND.( ONLY REQUEST OF @claubarretto IS FOR HIM TO NOT BE IN THE WAKE DUE TO TRAUMA 🙏 FYI THE VOICE YOU HEAR IS MARJORIE VOICE DEFYING The REQUEST of PRRD,” Gretchen concluded.
Gretchen also included the quote originally aimed at her hitting back at Marjorie.
“Narcissists try to destroy your life with lies because theirs can be destroyed with the truth,” Gretchen posted.

The Barretto sisters have a long standing family feud with Gretchen having on-and-off relationship with her sisters.
Since 2013, Gretchen has been estranged from the family after a feud with Claudine.
Earlier this year, Gretchen and Claudine reconciled and have been a constant presence in each other’s lives with Marjorie being left out.
Just recently when the Julia-Gerald-Bea controversy broke out, the siblings’ feud was again highlighted by Claudine and Gretchen siding with Bea and Marjorie being left alone to defend her daughter Julia.
