TNT Celebrity Champions is a special edition of Tawag Ng Tanghalan in celebration of It’s Showtime‘s 10th year anniversary.
TNT has been instrumental in It’s Showtime’s 10-year history. It was the singing competition that saved the life of the noontime show after being overwhelmed by the AlDub phenomenon four years ago.
Meanwhile in an interview with bloggers, Ate Gay said that he really wanted to join TNT when he learned that a celebrity edition was coming up. Since Nora Aunor, the superstar that he is impersonating, is a former TNT champion herself, he saw it fitting to also grace the TNT stage.
Asked who is he most threatened among the contenders, Ate Gay quickly answered fellow comedian Ethel Booba.
UPDATE: Ate Gay will no longer compete in Tawag Ng Tanghalan Celebrity Champions.
In a Facebook post Wednesday, October 16, the comedian sadly broke the news that he is now out of the competition.
In the post, Ate Gay said It’s Showtime management didn’t give any specific reason for his exit but he thanked all the madlang people who supported him and waited for his chance to step on the TNT stage.
