Kapamilya action-drama queen Angel Locsin credited the success of their teleserye The General’s Daughter to everyone who made it happen.
After almost nine months, The General’s Daughter has finally accomplished its mission not only to reign in its timeslot but to top the overall ratings.
During the press con for its finale, Angel was asked about her reaction to the show surpassing long-running Kapamilya teleserye FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano in terms of viewership.
For Angel, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has been a great influence on their show being its pre-programming.
“Well una sa lahat, lahat naman kami dito, I think lahat tayo fan ng Ang Probinsyano. Walang makakatalo sa apat na taon na mahabang tinakbo nila na namamayagpag ang ratings nila. So yung kung ano man yung nagawa namin is may influence din Ang Probinsyano. So utang din po namin sa kanila un,” Angel answered.

She also credited the success of their show to the teamwork of their production unit.
“Ang sa amin kasi it’s team work lang. Dreamscape din naman ang Probinsyano, Dreamscape din ang The General’s Daughter so I think utang namin din ito sa Dreamscape. Magaling lang ho talaga silang gumawa ng mga shows na de kalidad na alam nila kung ano yung kiliti ng mga tao,” Angel continued.
Angel also thanked Dreamscape and its unit head Deo Endrinal for trusting her to do an action teleserye given her physical condition which made her quit Darna.
“Gusto ko lang po magpasalamat sa Dreamscape for trusting mo especially kay sir Deo. Nung time na yun parang di naman ako dapat magtatrabaho pa eh. Nung nakausap ko si sir Deo at pinagkatiwalaan niya ko, maraming maraming salamat talaga. Siya lang nagtiwala sa akin ulit eh na gumawa ng action kasi lahat takot eh. Siguro naman naprove ko na kaya ko pa.
“Ito iyong sinasabi nila na …kung ano man iyong kayang gawin ng kalalakihan, kaya rin gawin ng mga kababaihan,” she added.
The General’s Daughter has overtaken Ang Probinsyano several times in the ratings board.
Based on the numbers reported by Kantar Media on September 6, 2019, the Angel Locsin-led teleserye surpassed Coco Martin’s teleserye by 0.4% at 32.8% and 32.4% respectively.
In AGB Nielsen’s NUTAM survey, The General’s Daughter recently topped the ratings board thrice overtaking Ang Probinsyano.
Based on the NUTAM People ratings, The General’s Daughter captured the #1 position on September 2 (14% vs 13.5%), September 5 (14.1% vs 13.9%), September 6 (14% vs 13.5%). The two meanwhile were tied at 14.0% on September 3.
Meanwhile, asked why they ended the show when it was reigning the ratings board, its producer Deo Endrinal said it is the perfect time to conclude the story.

“Iyong kuwento po kasi hindi naman nating gusto palaylayin natin. Mas gusto po ng team and management na, ‘Let’s end this at the right time, na magtatapos siya sa length nung kuwento na nararapat para sa kanya,” Endrinal explained.
