Alex Gonzaga started vlogging on YouTube last July 2017 when her ABS-CBN contract was about to expire.
“That time po, I’m ending my contract in ABS, parang wala kaming meeting if they’re gonna renew. So sabi ko, okay I’ll just be happy, kasi kung ano man yung lumalabas sakin sa social media, ‘yung response nila sobrang fulfilled ako. Iniisip ko na, it’s gonna be the end of my career in TV.”
Alex also shared with Rated K host Korina Sanchez that she felt that even the networks’ executives underestimated her capabilities and misinterpreted her personality.
“May mga heads nga sa network ko na parang hindi ako gusto, paano ako, ang dami kong haters, walang may gusto sa akin.”
Fortunately for her, YouTube viewers have learned to love her content and the 31-year-old actress took this opportunity to reveal her true personality to invalidate all the hearsay about her. Her sister, Toni Gonzaga-Soriano, revealed that Alex did not intend to make a living out of YouTube, it was just an outlet for her younger sister.
Toni shared: “It was not for anything else, it was not meant for her to be famous. She didn’t do it to earn money, she just made it an outlet.”
As of this writing, Alex now has 4.3 Million subscribers and her latest video with Charo Santos has garnered 2.4 Million views in just three days.
Alex Gonzaga and her miseries
Despite the success of her YouTube channel, Alex can never seem to escape the issues being thrown at her such as the snubbing issue with Rita Daniella and Ken Chan and her allegedly cutting in line at the airport.
Alex also made headlines during the elections in Paranaque when she labeled Mayor Edwin Olivarez as ‘madugas’.
