- GirlTrends gained criticisms online after their lackluster performance went viral
- Teacher Georcelle commented on the viral video of GirlTrends
- She advised the group to learn from the experience
Veteran choreographer and G-Force founder Georcelle Dapat-Sy did not hold back on commenting about the viral video of the It’s Showtime girl group GirlTrends or GT.
It was on August 14, when GT dancers, consisting of Chienna Filomeno, Dawn Chang, Mikee Agustin, Mica Javier, Krissha Viaje, Sammie Rimando, and Joana Hipolito, performed a song-and-dance production number “How Do You Sleep Tonight.” Their video was lambasted online as netizens noted their asynchronous dance moves and their offkey voices as well.
Teacher Georcelle admitted that she felt sad about their disastrous performance especially since it was aired on national TV.
“Someone showed me the video. Actually nakakalungkot dahil may reason malamang kung bakit nangyari ‘yon. But again, they performed on TV and that’s not an excuse. You said yes to a project dapat ibigay mo ‘yung all,” Teacher Georcelle said.
But she added that though the girl dancers may have been busy with other projects, they should still give an all-out performance for the show.
“But on the other hand, we know how these artists work. When you’re ‘hot’ ang dami mong projects na sunod-sunod… Ang GT are not honed to be professional dancers.
“I think nagkulang lang sa time management, so pagdating ng ensayo nagkukulang. So ang sa akin, time management. And when you commit, i-full out na… Dito sa pagkakataon na binibigay ng ‘Showtime’ kailangan nilang paghusayan,” Teacher Georcelle said.
Teacher Georcelle also advised the girls to learn from the experience and improve in the process.
“With right preparation, ample time, siyempre mas magiging okay… It’s a process. Surrender lang ‘yan… From that experience dapat matuto na. Kasi you are performers and it’s not an excuse. You cannot explain that to the audience,”
She also expressed her excitement for the coming performances of GT as a comeback after gaining criticisms in the viral video.
“We’re excited. Ako, gusto ko makita ‘yung next performance nila after this viral video… ‘Yung mga ganong pagkakamali sa buhay dapat talaga ginagamit natin as motivation,”she concluded.
