- Some celebrities voiced out their reaction about the controversy
Aspiring singer Shantal Cuizon has deactivated her Twitter account after making a public apology on It’s Showtime last August 31, Saturday.
She was heavily criticized on the internet after she wrote the tweet “composer ka lang” aimed at songwriter Louie Ocampo, the head judge at the time, who almost had her eliminated from the Tawag ng Tanghalan contest following her performance on August 30, Friday.
She also exclaimed the word “hustisya” in her now deleted tweet claiming that she was judged unfairly.
Upon airing her controversial tweets, many netizens criticized and lectured Shantal on Twitter.
I really feel sorry for Shantal Quizon. She should’ve been mindful about her tweets before. I don’t know if people will remember her for her performances or for what she just posted here about Mr. Louie Ocampo. ‘Di pa rin ako makamove on. #TNTinstantResbakWeek

Dear @ShantalCuizon Who are you to public shame a well-respected artist like Sir Louie Ocampo. I truly agree to @vicegandako as an avid fan of Its Showtime what you said was really offensive. Remember you are not yet there and with an attitude like that you will never get there.

While being interviewed by It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda, Shantal apologized on air and admitted that she made a mistake. She also thanked the composer though he was not part of the panel the day of her last performance.
She was also schooled by Vice Ganda who disagreed with her post implying that the semifinals of the contest were rigged from the start.
Shantal failed to make it to the grand finals while Violeta Bayawa and Julius Cawaling won their spots as grand finalists.
The Tawag ng Tanghalan grand finals is scheduled for this September.
