After six years away from his mother network, Rafael Rosell has finally found his way back to the Kapamilya network.
The ‘Balik-Kapamilya’ actor was really happy with the love he got from the viewers of his Maalaala Mo Kaya episode last August with Yen Santos.
The actor was even more grateful for the high ratings of his newest comeback series, Parasite Island. The show started airing on September 8, replacing Hiwaga ng Kambat. The pilot episode recorded a national TV rating of 30% versus Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko with 17.3% only, based on the data from Kantar Media.
“It’s awesome, ang ganda ng ratings namin. Ang daming nanonood. The support and the love is definitely there.
“Sa set naman we always have so much fun kasi we’re fighting zombies but at the end of the day, yung emotions and physicality na kino-contribute namin for the show, nakakapagod talaga. But seeing the ratings, it makes it all worth it,” he said during an interview at the ABS-CBN Ball 2019.
Parasite Island is a fantasy series that will teach viewers an important lesson. Can love overpower selfishness, resentment, and entitlement to save a family that has been strained by a supernatural tragedy brought about by leeches that have a taste for human flesh.
Talented paramedic Jessie (Rafael Rosell) used to have a lot of potential as a child, but grew up bitterly as his brothers blamed him for the mysterious death of their father. This happened when young Jessie insisted on going swimming in a lake on an island called El Cuerpo after his father was attacked after saving him from drowning.
Twenty-three years have passed, and Jessie’s conscience is still burdened by guilt over his father’s death, which remains unexplained. He is now dealing with a bad case of alcoholism that caused the breakdown of his relationship with his wife Janelle (Ria Atayde) and daughter.
Jessie comes home to El Cuerpo to surprise his mother Daria (Liza Lorena) for her 70th birthday celebration. His arrival will be followed by his two greedy older brothers, Warren (Michael Flores) and Gary (Bernard Palanca), who both have intentions of inheriting a large slice of their mother’s estate.Their true intentions are unraveled in the aftermath of the party, while a strange epidemic begins to take over the island of El Cuerpo.
Tune in to Parasite Island, Sundays at 7 PM on ABS-CBN.
