More viewers nationwide tuned in to the happy, loving, and relatable story of the Mabunga family as the new Kapamilya series “Pamilya Ko” posted strong national TV ratings and topped the trending topics on Twitter with its official hashtag #MabungaAngPamilyaKo.
The series, which star JM De Guzman, Kiko Estrada, Jairus Aquino, Maris Racal, Kira Balinger, Mutya Orquia, Raikko Mateo, Joey Marquez, and Sylvia Sanchez, revolve around the lives of the Mabunga family and their journey in keeping their home intact as they face complex issues that will test their strength.
Its debut on Monday earned a national TV rating of 18.3%, compared to “Wowowin,” that only scored 15.8%, according to data from Kantar Media covering urban and rural homes nationwide.
Netizens also shared their praises through various posts on social media.
“Even I’m on the bus I still watched ‘Pamilya Ko.’ The signal was weak but I insisted on watching it. It was only the beginning but I was already feeling every scene,” said Twitter user @caroldeguzmanr1.
“Finally! There’s a series that is worthy to watch. Something that I could recommend to my students. I have a new reason to rush home every after class. Brilliant,” @angpekyulyar tweeted.
“Sylvia Sanchez is a gem. Fadeless talent. Perfect fit for the series. I love it,” said @radadvinculaph.
After a series of celebrations, the family now faces a conflict after Chico (JM De Guzman) reprimanded Beri (Kiko Estrada) for smoking a cigarette, which led to an altercation between them.
Their mother Luz (Sylvia Sanchez) was quick to scold the two, but ultimately put the blame on Chico for hurting his younger brother.
Lola Caring went to Chico’s rescue and pointed out why Luz treats her eldest son unfairly: she blames Chico for the death of his other son Jack.
Will they get over the memory of their tragic past? What more problems will their whole family face?
