QUEZON CITY, Philippines–On Friday, August 31, the country’s biggest mobile shorts film fest dubbed as Get Reel Mobile Shorts Film Festival 2019 revealed the seven finalists at Cinema One, Fisher Mall with Dylan Ray Talon’s entry as the grand winner.
Talon is both an independent film and theater actor-turned-filmmaker, and his short film Walang Hanggang Ligaya sa Una Mong Ngiti. His entry about a couple who reminisced their love as they shared it throughout their lives and wished that it will be the same in their afterlives. He both won Best Mobile Short Film and Best Best Director, winning Php50,000 and Php25,000, respectively.
Also, his film earned the Best in Cinematography with a cash prize of Php10,000.
McJim Classic Leather, who presented the festival had seven finalists that are inspiring, heart-rending, and relatable mobile shorts shot using smartphones only.
Meanwhile, May Love Life na si Pepito by James Edward Golla managed to earn Best Screenplay and Best Comedy with Php20,000 and Php25,000 as prizes.
Mark Jason Sucgang‘s Pitaka also won Php25,000 for Get Reel Viral Shorts award, John Carlo Balasbas Tarobal‘s Champion and Roy Robert Rusiana‘s Kabilin are named Best Inspirational Story and Best Drama, winning Php10,000 and Php25,000, respectively.
Other finalists were Cotard Syndrome by MC Viluan Capasido and Lupi by Dave Tolentino.
McJim Classic Leather’s Get Reel Mobile Shorts Film Fest is open to Filipino filmmakers to submit films created via the use of mobile devices, with film durations following the standard length of viral shorts with two to ten minutes (including opening and closing credits).
