In celebration of the album release and in the spirit of collaboration, we are pleased to announce the Hermitude Remix Competition – Asia for their latest single “OneFourThree (feat. Buddy and BJ the Chicago Kid”.
Powered by BandLab and in partnership with Secret Signals and Elefant Traks, the competition officially kicks off today, September 27th to October 11th (UTC +8/ SGT Midnight) and is open exclusively to BandLab users residing in Asia.
The winning entry will be picked by Hermitude as an official remix on their YouTube page.
“We’re super excited to hear what comes from this Remix comp, we know there’s a huge amount of talent coming out of Asia at the moment whether established artists or bedroom producers. We want to hear it all,” exclaimed Hermitude.
“Hermitude’s built an awesome reputation as a band that keeps stretching the limits of their creativity and pushing the envelope. In a shared spirit of sonic experimentation, we’re excited to be providing the platform for this remix competition and inviting musicians from around Asia to take part,” shared Lauren Hendry Parsons (AVP Communications & Partnerships, BandLab Technologies) on the Hermitude Remix Competition.
“BandLab is all about tearing down the barriers to making music – and an opportunity like this empowers creators to collaborate with a world-class band.”
The album’s name is a reflection on finding clarity in the chaos. ‘Pollyanarchy’ is a record of the time spent to meticulously sculpt, experiment and create a piece of work that skillfully blends a diverse assemblage of features like Vic Mensa, BJ The Chicago Kid, Buddy, Bibi Bourelly, Haiku Hands, Hoodlem, Wes Period, Soaky Sirens, Vory, and Electric Fields.
In and amongst the eleven tracks, Hermitude has yet again produced a future-facing album of coherence and variety that showcases a wide range of influences, from late-night R&B to deep pitched basslines and trap-inflected hooks.
The list of collaborations notes the distance in which their music has taken them, bending genres and bridging the gap between electronic music and hip-hop.
