- Gabbi Garcia shrugged off pressure to be going up against FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano for the third time
- She will star in the newest Kapuso series Beautiful Justice
- Her past two shows that were pitted against FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano lost in terms of ratings
Kapuso star Gabbi Garcia is set to star in the upcoming primetime series Beautiful Justice, her third project that will be pitted against the Kapamilya juggernaut FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Her previous shows that were placed in the first slot of GMA Telebabad were Encantadia (2016-2017) and Sherlock Jr. (2018). Unfortunately, these were all knocked down by the Coco Martin series in the battle of ratings.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has been the longest running action series in the country which began airing in September 2015.
In an interview with PEP last August 29,Gabbi was asked if she feels pressured that her new series is set to compete against FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano for the third time around.
“Siguro, kahit ano namang timeslot, nakaka-pressure for me. Ang nasa mind ko lang kasi is to deliver a good show. That’s it. It doesn’t matter what timeslot as long as you know you give your 100 percent. Mas yun yung nilu-look forward ko, not really the pressure of being in that timeslot.”
Gabbi said that she chose not to worry and feel pressured about the show’s ratings as long as she does her job well.
“Of course, there’s always pressure but I treat all timeslots as equal. Lahat sila, show ng GMA, so kailangan galingan. When it comes kasi sa ratings, hindi naman siya lahat factor ng artista. So I’m just really there to act and do my job. So ipaubaya natin sa network yun. Ang akin kasi, as long as you deliver and you do your job very well, hanggang doon na nagtatapos yung job ko. You participate in promos, you give your everything in promos. The rest, feeling ko naman, hindi ko na rin hawak. So ipaubaya na natin sa mga taong may hawak no’n. At saka dati kasi, nakakatakot. Pero ngayon kasi, na-realize ko na rin, bakit ako nagpapa-pressure, e, hindi ko naman yun maku-control, di ba?” Gabbi explained.
Apart from Gabbi, Beautiful Justice also stars leading actresses Yasmien Kurdi and Bea Binene.
The upcoming primetime series is under the helm of director Mark Reyes V., who also fights against FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano for the third time. It will start to air on TV this September 9 replacing Sahaya.
Joining Gabbi in the series are two of the hottest leading man of GMA Network who are Derrick Monasterio and Gil Cuerva
The actress was then asked about her kissing scene with Derrick and she responded with,”Hindi naman kasi kami nag-kissing scene ng bongga!”
Though it’s their first time to work together, Gabbi said that she had a casual connection with the actor.
“Very casual kasi kami ni Derrick. Si Derrick kasi, he talks to everyone, hindi siya namimili ng kakausapin.
“So it helps for us to be more comfortable with each other, wala kang mapi-feel na ilang factor sa kanya, so okay naman. Chill naman.”
Gabbi also appreciated the cast of the Beautiful Justice series for reaching out to their new workmates.
Gabbi shared,”First time namin magkaka-work lahat, so we started from level one of kapaan, level one of ‘Okay, kakausapin ko ba siya?’
“May ilang factor, sa una, may kapaan. Pero pantay-pantay kasi walang nagkatrabaho na. So lahat talaga kami, reaching out to each other which is nice, di ba, new environment, new workmates.”
Gabbi plays her newest role as Brie, a social media influencer who gets depressed after the death of her fiance, Lance, played by Derrick. She later teams up with Alice (Yasmien) and Kitkat (Bea), to avenge Lance’s death and help her team using her expertise in Information Technology.
Gabbi dished out interesting details about her character in the action series.
“She’s really outgoing, maarte like me, chos! Pero behind that maarte facade, ano siya, very smart, at saka she’s willing to fight for her loved ones.
“She’s actually willing to cross the ocean for her loved ones na minsan, ang tingin ng tao, nami-misinterpret yung mga maaarte, na parang hanggang arte lang sila, pero hindi nila alam, malaki ang puso ni Brie.”
It was also her first time to play the role of an I.T. expert but through the help of a PDEA agent, she ensures that she gives justice to her role.
“First time ko! First time ko magka-role ng ganun. They explained to me kung ano mga ihahandle ko like computers, kunyari sa cellphone.
“Meron kaming agent sa set na binabantayan if tama ba, accurate ba yung itsura.
“Pangit din kasi siguro if go lang kami ng go without going sa facts, nakakabastos din yun sa trabaho nila. In respect with their jobs also,” she said.
Apart from being an actress, Gabbi is also a recording artist at the Kapuso network. She had her first acting role as Nicole Perez in the primetime series My Destiny way back 2014. In 2015,she then portrayed Pia Sta. Maria in Let The Love Begin. She gained more popularity when she played Sang’gre Alena in the reboot of Encantadia (2016).
