  • Angel Locsin did not attend the ABS-CBN Ball 2019
  • The sought-after actress expressed her reason for her absence on social media while the event was going on
  • The actress clarifies ‘ex-deal’ impressions

The ABS-CBN Ball is an annual event that people look forward to since the biggest celebrities in Philippine showbiz show up on the red carpet in their glamorous best.

One of the most-awaited celebrities is The General’s Daughter star Angel Locsin. However, the actress was a no-show at the grand event.

On Instagram, Angel explained her absence from the ball as it was going on.

“I salute my friends at the ABS-CBN Ball who are doing their share to promote awareness on children’s rights and to help the beneficiaries of Bantay Bata 163 get the education that everyone deserves,” Locsin wrote.

“As for me, I decided to do my share in a way that I could probably be more of use. I think it would be better for me to donate directly to Bantay Bata the amount that I’m supposed to spend in the ball. It’s not much, but will help make a difference to someone else’s life,” she added.

In reaction to the actress’ explanation, a Blogger surmised on Twitter that everything is sponsored at such a high-profile event like the ABS-CBN Ball.

“The dress, hair, and makeup, even hotel na stayan nila. Unless KKB (kaniya-kaniyang bayad) na ngayon? At hindi provided ng mother studio nila,” Orange Magazine blogger Jeman Villanueva said.

“Says who?” Angel replied.

Says who?

“You mean you don’t get to borrow gowns from designers for this occasion?” the fan asked. “As a celebrity, and you being a big star, for sure designers would love to see their dress worn by you.”

Angel responded to the comment saying, “Minsan.

You get my point na?”

Angel clarified the impression of some fans that celebrities who attend the annual ABS-CBN Ball wear gowns or suits for free, in exchange for the exposure of the designers behind the outfits.

— Angel Locsin (@143redangel) September 16, 2019

After the exchange of comments, the said fan defended himself against the actress’ followers that he is not against the decision of Angel, he is actually commending the actress for the kind act.

Meanwhile, Angel retweeted and emphasized to the said Blogger and hoping that he will not get affected by bashers.

Sorry about that…
