Following Alden Richards’ successful Star Cinema movie Hello, Love, Goodbye with Kathryn Bernardo, the hashtags #YestoAlDubMovie and #NotoAlDubMovie became hot trending topics on Twitter as fans of the love team have been wishing for a new movie with Alden and his previous on-screen partner Maine Mendoza.
Last 2017, AlDub’s first teleserye together, Destined To Be Yours, ended early supposedly to make way for their upcoming movie.
AlDub (as what fans called Alden and Maine’s love team) tandem has done two films, My Bebe Love #KiligPaMore (2015) and Imagine You and Me (2016). They were also part of the ensemble cast of Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers (2016).
During a press conference on August 30, 2018, Alden shared that he had a lot on his plate and he hoped to make another movie soon. “Sa ngayon po, wala pa po kasi my hands are quite full po because of the concert and other commitments. Pero next year po… Kausap ko na po ‘yung management, may mga concept na po. Concept pa lang, hindi pa final. Hopefully po, next year makagawa ko ulit.”
It is a big challenge for Alden and Maine to prove they are still bankable. Considering the circumstances, will there be a chance for a third Aldub movie?
Maine had earlier assured fans in a press conference that their AlDub love team is still active.

But during the actor’s recent interviews, Alden did not want to talk about AlDub fans’ clamor for a new movie with Maine. He did not want to entertain any questions relating to his previous love team.
Even Alden’s handlers from GMA Network forbade the press from asking the actor about Maine and their fans’ request for a movie.
Meanwhile, the newly hailed Box Office King is now busy shooting for his upcoming Kapuso series, The Gift, that is set to air this month.
Days after the series started shooting, the GMA Artist Network has finally announced Alden’s newest love team partner, Miss Eco International 2017 Thia Thomalla.
The Beauty Queen confirmed the announcement after she shared on her Facebook account a post from One Heart Kapuso Facebook page saying that she is the new leading lady of Alden.
“Thia Thomalla is Alden Richards’ new leading lady in his new soap, The Gift. Her full name is Cynthia Thomalla, but she will be using the shorter screen name, Thia. She won in the Miss World Philippines pageant as our country’s representative to the Miss Eco International 2017 in Cairo, Egypt in April 2017 and won the title, the first Filipina ever to win the crown,” the Facebook page wrote.
This project is a dream come true for Thia. As she mentioned in previous interviews that she wanted to work with Kapuso stars Dingdong Dantes, Alden Richards, Solenn Heussaff, and Lovi Poe.
The Gift is the story of Joseph (Alden) who is able to tell the future and look back into the past after he becomes blind. He uses this ability to help his community in times of need.

Also in the cast are Jean Garcia, Jo Berry, Mikee Quintos, Betong Sumaya, Christian Vasquez, Elizabeth Oropesa, Rochelle Pangilinan, Martin del Rosario, Mikoy Morales, and Ysabel Ortega.
