- GMA Network in danger of losing bailiwick Urban Luzon.
ABS-CBN continues to reign nationwide ratings for the month of August 2019.
According to the latest numbers from Kantar Media Research, the Kapamilya network even widened its lead against rival GMA Network.
ABS-CBN registered an average rating of 45%, 14% higher than GMA Network’s 31%.
Aside from total nationwide ratings, ABS-CBN also captured all geographic areas.
For Metro Manila, ABS-CBN outscored GMA by 16% at 41% vs 25% ratings. Another viewer rich area, Mega Manila, also gave ABS-CBN its win by leading rival Kapuso network by 5% at 36% vs 31%.
Total Luzon, Total Visayas, and Total Mindanao were also tuned-in to ABS-CBN this month as it won in all areas by 41%, versus 34%, 55%, versus 24%, and 52% versus 28% ratings respectively.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN didn’t only win in all geographic areas by also in all time blocks.
ABS-CBN dominated primetime programming with 48% ratings, beating GMA with a significant margin of 17% at 31%.
The morning block was also won by the Kapamilya network at 39% vs 29% or a gap of 10%.
Another highly contested block, noontime, was also captured by ABS-CBN at 46% vs GMA’s 32%. Afternoon programming gave the Kapamilya network 14% lead at 47% vs 33%.
ABS-CBN’s August win was led again by FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano followed by the new season of The Voice Kids, The General’s Daughter, Hiwaga ng Kambat, and Maalaala Mo Kaya.
But, while ABS-CBN was able to pull away from the nationwide competition, GMA network almost lost in their bailiwick Urban Luzon.
Although GMA Network still led Urban Luzon according to the numbers reported by AGB Nielsen, the Kapuso Network only managed to lead by a minute margin.
GMA Network registered an average rating of 31.8% in Urban Luzon versus ABS-CBN’s 31.7% or a margin of only 0.1%. Urban Luzon accounts for 72% of all urban viewers in the country.
GMA Network also won AGB Nielsen’s Mega Manila survey but again with a small margin of 3.3% at 32.4% vs 29.1%.
