- Hello, Love, Goodbye breaks the record as top-grossing Pinoy film in 2019.
- KathDen movie unites rival networks and fandoms
Amid dismal performance of Filipino movies in the box office this year, Star Cinema’s Hello, Love, Goodbye has brought new hope for the Philippine cinema.
Raking in 34.5 million pesos on its first showing day, the movie now holds the record for this year’s highest-grossing film on an opening day.
Compared to Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards’s previous films, Hello, Love, Goodbye followed KathNiel’s The House of Us which earned 35.9 million on its first day. Meanwhile, Alden’s movie with his on-screen partner Maine Mendoza Imagine You And Me recorded a first-day gross of 21.5 million pesos.
To date, this is Kathryn Bernardo’s highest-grossing film without love team partner Daniel Padilla.
Her first movie break from their KathNiel love team was last year’s family drama Three Words to Forever which failed miserably in the box office earning only 500k on its opening day and 6.5 million total box office receipt.
Alden, on the other hand, was lucky to have this movie as his first movie break from AlDub considering it is a huge success.

Crossing networks
While many were skeptical at first with this experimental pairing knowing how possessive their respective fandoms are, Hello, Love, Goodbye made it possible to circumvent network rivalries.
With Kathryn and Alden being top stars of their respective networks, their movie was able to unite both networks at its world premiere.
Kapamilya stars who were spotted at the red carpet premiere were Bea Alonzo, Angelica Panganiban, Joshua Garcia, Loisa Andalio, Edward Barber, and Donny Pangilinan.
Kapuso stars who were there included Ruru Madrid, Valeen Montenegro, Chariz Solomon, Benj Manalo, Mikee Quintos, and Christian Bautista.
GMA Network executives also showed their support for the movie.

On the second day of showing, Kapuso executives Annette Gozon Abrogar, GMA Films and GMA Worldwide President and First Vice President for Program Management Joey Abacan were present to support Alden’s film under Star Cinema.
Aside from the stars and executives, their respective fandoms also united to support the movie of their idols.

Hello, Love, Goodbye is memorable in a lot of ways. Up until now, KathNiel and AlDub fans are still arguing who’s the top love team of the country. But with this team-up of Kathryn and Alden, both fandoms became one in supporting their idols.
Another thing that makes this movie memorable is that this is one of the last films that Cathy Garcia-Molina will direct before her retirement. Molina is set to retire from doing films this 2019.
