Alden Richards has been taping for days now for his new Kapuso drama series titled The Gift. Mostly shot in Divisoria and set to air next month, The Gift will tell the story of Joseph (Alden) who is able to tell the future and look back into the past after he becomes blind. He uses this ability to help his community in times of need.
This is the heartthrob’s follow-up television assignment after the lukewarm reception to his superhero series Victor Magtanggol where he played the titular role.
Alden’s character in this series is inspiring and hopeful despite his difficulties as a blind man.
The newly hailed Box Office King will be working with Beauty Queen Thia Thomalla as his new leading lady.
Thia won in the Miss World Philippines pageant to be the country’s representative to the Miss Eco International pageant held in Cairo, Egypt in April 2017. She won the title, the first Filipina ever to win the crown.
After winning the title, she signed up with GMA Network and became one of the hosts of the GMA Public Affairs lifestyle show, Glam Up, along with another network beauty queen, Winwyn Marquez, and model-actress Michelle Dee.
The new Kapuso star, who bears a striking resemblance to Anne Hathaway, says she is looking forward to pursuing her acting career and creating a name for herself.

“It has always been my personality to strive for personal growth. It’s [showbiz] a different kind of feeling because unlike beauty pageants, which I am used to, this is a new experience for me — new environment, new projects, new people. It’s another beginning,” she said.
In an interview during her contract signing attended by GMA Entertainment Group Senior Vice President Lilybeth G. Rasonbable, GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara, and talent manager Arnold Vegafria, Thia mentioned that she would love to work with Kapuso stalwarts Dingdong Dantes, Lovi Poe, Alden Richards, and Solenn Heusaff.
The Southern Leyte native is currently doing workshops.
The Gift is Thia’s big break as an actress. Giddy at the thought of her new venture, Thia admitted to feeling a bit of pressure as she enters unfamiliar territory.
“I am ecstatic at this opportunity although I also can’t help but feel the pressure just thinking about my new projects,” she shared.

Besides from GMA Network, Thia also has a three-picture contract with Regal Films, which is one of her prizes for winning Miss Eco International Philippines.
Also in the cast are Jean Garcia, Jo Berry, Mikee Quintos, Betong Sumaya, Christian Vasquez, Elizabeth Oropesa, Rochelle Pangilinan, Martin del Rosario, Mikoy Morales, and Ysabel Ortega.
