On June 20, 2019, GMA Network’s Entertainment Group inked a partnership with Armed Forces of the Philippines for the highly-anticipated Philippine adaptation of the hit romance-drama-action Korean series, Descendants of the Sun.
Two weeks after the partnership was signed, Dingdong Dantes, Rocco Nacino, and Alpha Team Members started their two-day war fighting training, along with real-life military intensive activities at Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija.
After the successful special forces training, the Descendants of the Sun adaptation medical team cast started with their medical training at V. Luna AFP-Medical Center.
In the training were Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Chariz Solomon, Andre Paras, Renz Fernandez, Nicole Donesa, Jenzel Angeles, and Reese Tuazon together with their trainers from Philippine Army and Philippine Airforce.

The trainings were given in preparation for their roles. As what Dingdong said, “Kailangan naming i-internalize at physically maramdaman, kahit papaano, ‘yung pinagdadaanan nila.”

In an exclusive video uploaded by GMA Network on Facebook showing the cast undergoing training, the comments section was flooded with positive reactions from netizens. The video has earned over 1.4million views.
