- Matt Evans returns to the fold of Star Magic after being a freelancer for two years
- The 30-year-old actor started his career at ABS-CBN as a housemate in Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition
- He will be part of the upcoming Kapamilya drama series A Soldier’s Heart
After exploring showbiz as a freelancer, Matt Evans decided to return to his home talent management at Star Magic.
Evans started his career with ABS-CBN after joining the reality television show Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition in 2006.
He rose to stardom for his notable projects like Komiks Presents: Da Adventures of Pedro Penduko, Tanging Yaman, and Rosalka.
He decided to become a freelancer in 2017 and left ABS-CBN after his gay role in The Greatest Love in 2016.
Evans stayed with GMA Network for two years and appeared in several Kapuso television shows including Pepito Manaloto, Tunay na Buhay, Dear Uge, Sherlock Jr., The Cure, Magpakailanman, and My Special Tatay.
However, last July 4, 2019, Star Magic confirmed Evans was back as a Kapamilya.
What could have been the reason Evans chose to return to Star Magic?
In an interview, the returning Kapamilya actor revealed that he regretted leaving his management. He missed how Star Magic took care of him as an actor which is why he chose to come back.

“’Yon po talaga ‘yung parang sobrang comfort zone ko kaya nag-decide na lang po talaga ako na bumalik na lang,” Evans admitted.
He also shared what he learned and the struggle he faced in the two years that he was away from his mother network.
“Mahirap, ang hirap magtiwala. Para kang nangangapa sa lahat. So ako, honestly, hinanap ko talaga ‘yung alaga, ‘yung malasakit, saka siyempre trabaho,” he stated.
When asked if there had been a problem with his return, he went on: “Actually si Tita Mariole (Alberto) po talaga ‘yung kinausap ko kaagad. Chineck lang po nila at humingi lang po sila ng go signal kay Tita Cory (Vidanes). Tapos pumayag naman po. So right away po in-absorb po ako agad ng Star Magic.
“Ramdam na ramdam ko po ‘yung parang na-miss ka ng mga tao. Kasi pagtuntong na pagtuntong ko pa lang sa bakuran talagang ang warm ng welcome ng lahat. May part sa akin na parang nagsisisi rin ako bakit ako umalis,” he continued.
With his comeback, the 30 year-old actor will be part of A Soldier’s Heart, an upcoming teleserye of ABS-CBN starring Gerald Anderson and Elmo Magalona.
