Eat Bulaga! host Maine Mendoza will be taking a break from regularly hosting the noontime show.
During the press conference of her renewal of contract with Mundipharma as brand ambassador of their line of daily feminine wash Betadine Fresh Bliss on August 1, Maine who is widely known as Eat Bulaga‘s Yaya Dub said that she will be seldom seen on Eat Bulaga! in the coming days.
Mendoza clarified that she will not leave the noontime show, just that she needs to take a break from regular hosting because of her hectic schedule.
“Magsasabay ‘yung shooting niya so baka bihira niyo na ako makita sa ‘Eat Bulaga’ mga dabarkads. Pero ‘wag niyo sana ako makalimutan,” Maine jokingly said.
Maine is set to do two films this year. One is the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry Mission Unstapabol: The Don Identity with Eat Bulaga co-host Vic Sotto.
Aside from her MMFF film, she will also be busy shooting her APT and Black Sheep co-production film with Carlo Aquino titled Isa Pa with Feelings.
Maine also relayed that she and Carlo are currently in a familiarity workshop.

“Ang kulit niya kasi, makulit din siyang lalaki. Parang same kami ng wavelength. Kumbaga ‘yung mga jokes ko benta sa kaniya, ‘yung mga jokes niya benta sa akin. So most of the time kapag nagwo-workshop kami tawa lang kami nang tawa,” she said.
Meanwhile, despite doing separate projects from her onscreen partner Alden Richards, Maine believes that AlDub is still strong. The tandem just recently celebrated their 4th anniversary, proof that the phenomenal love team isn’t over.
“Nandiyan pa rin po ang AlDub, kasi every day naman kami sa Eat Bulaga po, and wala namang ginagawa sa amin. Wala namang any announcement na pinaghiwalay na or anything. Pero siyempre, yung nangyayari sa career ko, kinu-consider ko na rin na na-refresh, na parang nag-grow din ako as a person, as a host, as an actress, as a celebrity, o kung ano man,” Mendoza explained.
“Pero ayun, tulad nga po ng nasabi ko kanina, hindi naman tayo puwedeng mag-stay lang sa isang place. At a certain point in life, kailangan talaga nating mag-grow, mag-move forward. So ako, ang feeling ko, I would consider the changes in my life positive changes,” she added.
Asked about her comments on the recent success of Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richard’s film Hello, Love, Goodbye, Maine congratulated the two on the success of their film and encouraged people to watch the film.
“Congratulations sa kanila ni Kathryn (Bernardo)! Second day ngayon so ang message ko sa kay Alden at sa lahat ng manonood, panoorin ninyo po. Maganda ‘yung pelikula.”
Prior to this Maine has also took to social media particularly Twitter to promote the film on its first showing day.
