- The AlDub tandem of Alden Richards and Yaya Dub aka Maine Mendoza were the stars of their own “Kalyeserye” back then
- Last month, Maine and Alden celebrated the 4th anniversary of AlDub by tweeting their gratitude to the fans
During the renewal of her contract for Betadine Fresh Bliss on Thursday (August 1), Maine Mendoza was asked to comment about career changes in her career and the AlDub fans who stayed after four years. She has been with Mundipharma as brand ambassador since 2016.
“Nandiyan pa rin po ang AlDub, kasi every day naman kami sa Eat Bulaga po, and wala namang ginagawa sa amin. Wala namang any announcement na pinaghiwalay na or anything. Pero siyempre, yung nangyayari sa career ko, kinu-consider ko na rin na na-refresh, na parang nag-grow din ako as a person, as a host, as an actress, as a celebrity, o kung ano man.”
Aldub is Maine’s tandem with Alden Richards which recently marked its fourth anniversary. Recently, the two have been focusing on projects not involving their love team partner.
Alden has paired up with Kathryn Bernardo to star the movie Hello, Love, Goodbye while Maine has also found herself a new onscreen partner in the person of Carlo Aquino for the Black Sheep movie Isa Pa with Feelings.
Though both of them are doing separate projects now, Maine and Alden remain Eat Bulaga mainstay hosts.
“Pero ayun, tulad nga po ng nasabi ko kanina, hindi naman tayo puwedeng mag-stay lang sa isang place. At a certain point in life, kailangan talaga nating mag-grow, mag-move forward. So ako, ang feeling ko, I would consider the changes in my life positive changes,” she added.
Some AlDub fans were happy for the two who are venturing into their separate career paths with good opportunities. Sadly, there are still some who were left brokenhearted by the phenomenal love team’s separate projects.
Four years ago, Maine and Alden Richards took the world by storm when the unlikely pair formed the AlDub love team via Eat Bulaga‘s hit Kalyeserye. The team-up was so successful that they topped global Twitter trends on a daily basis and their “Tamang Panahon” event at the Philippine Arena earned a Guinness World Record for most tweeted hashtag in 24 hours.
