After two weeks of keeping silent, Julia Barretto finally addressed on Tuesday (August 6) accusations that she was involved in the breakup of Bea Alonzo and Gerald Anderson.
Julia Barretto made her statement on Instagram, posting an old photo of herself as a child with an adult Alonzo which had been circulating online in the wake of the controversy.
Julia defended herself from being painted as the third party. “Secondly, I believe Gerald has already made it clear that a third party was not the cause of their breakup. I would like to disassociate myself from the breakup of Bea and Gerald. Their issues are entirely their own. However, since I was brought into this mess without a choice, this is what I have to say. Your heartbreak should have been a private matter, but you have selfishly turned it into something of national concern.”
She also clarified the issue that she had cheated on her former boyfriend Joshua Garcia with Anderson. “I was attacked for two issues: 1. I cheated on my boyfriend. 2. I was the cause of another relationship’s breakup. Let’s be clear: Josh and I had broken up four months ago. We have publicly admitted it together and we have cleared that there was no third party involved. From now on, anything I do in my private and love life is not considered as cheating, and is none of anyone’s business,” she explained.
But this long statement didn’t convince the netizens especially since her aunt Gretchen Barretto is claiming that it was written by someone else, and not Julia.

Julia Barretto just proved that shes inconsiderate of Bea's feelings by trying to make herself the victim and scrutinizing Bea's reaction to what she found out. She really tried to clean her reputation up by bringing someone else's down when she could've just cleared the air.

Instead of just airing her side of the story, Julia attacked Bea directly. The young actress took an aggressive stance against Bea who’s still obviously hurting. If she had been hoping to turn the tide of hate from herself towards Bea instead, it would appear to have failed since even more netizens are reacting negatively towards Julia.
While many people believe that they’re both victims, Julia might have given her haters more ammunition to attack her with.
