Julia Barretto finally spoke up regarding the issue surrounding her and the former couple, Bea Alonzo and Gerald Anderson, in an interview with the press.
On August 22, Thursday, the actress clarified that she’s not having an affair with her Between Maybes co-star, Gerald Anderson.
The 22-year old actress said, “Hindi ko siya naging boyfriend and hindi ko siya boyfriend ngayon. Therefore, wala akong inagawan ng boyfriend, wala akong inahas, at wala din akong nilandi.”
Bea had made a cryptic post on her Instagram account last July, hinting at her then-boyfriend’s infidelity. After making the post, Bea then started liking photos of Julia and Gerald together. Later on, the Eerie star admitted that there had been no formal breakup between her and Gerald and that “he just started not talking to me.”
Prior to this, a photo of Julia and Gerald together at Rayver Cruz’s birthday party surfaced online. This drew speculations from netizens that Julia was the reason for the Bea and Gerald breakup.
Two weeks after Bea’s “enough” statement on IG, Gerald aired his sentiments and clarified that it was their own issues as a couple that led them to separate. He also denied that Julia was involved in the breakup.
Julia also stressed that she’s not the reason for the couple’s split. She also called Bea a bully for her social media posts.
Julia’s and Gerald’s statements backfired on them though as netizens made even more negative comments about them.
When asked if Gerald courted her, the actress denied it, contrary to what her father Dennis Padilla allegedly said in an interview.
She said, “Hindi ako nililigawan. Naniniwala ako na may tamang panahon at oras para sa mga bagay na ganiyan. Pero nanatili siyang matalik kong kaibigan ngayon.”

Dennis had allegedly revealed that Gerald was indeed courting his daughter and that he talked with the latter over the phone to address the issue.
Gerald admitted that he and Dennis had a conversation over the phone. However, he neither confirmed nor denied if he was courting Julia but strongly denied that it was not the actress who cause his split with former girlfriend, Bea.
As of the moment, the actress is “in the process of healing and moving forward from everything that happened in the past month, because hindi biro ‘yung pinagdaanan naming lahat.
“Hindi biro ‘yung pinagdaanan ko, ng pamilya ko, ng pamilya naming lahat,” she added.
Gerald’s name was first linked to Julia’s when he was tagged as the reason behind her and former boyfriend and on-screen partner Joshua Garcia’s breakup, a month before the same issue with Bea and Gerald surfaced.
The actress cleared her co-star’s name and reiterated that it’s “definitely not third-party,” and “It’s always been our own issues.”
When asked about her current standing about the issue, and where she’s heading, Julia told ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe: “Like I said, hindi biro ‘yung pinagdadaanan naming lahat. Ayokong i-angkin ‘yung mga nangyayari. Lahat kami, nasasaktan.
“We all have our own story. We’re all dealing with our own pain. Ang pinakamasakit pa doon, nadamay ang mga pamilya namin. I’m in the process of moving forward, healing.”
The young actress stated, “This is not the right time anymore to point fingers.”
“She’s hurting, he’s hurting, but so am I. I’m really in so much pain right now. But kailangan magpakatatag, e. We have to get back on our feet, and move forward, and heal from this,” she mused.
“Wala kaming choice. We just have to respect each other’s pain. Everyone is hurting. Hindi madali ‘yung pinagdadaanan naming tatlo,” she remarked.
