Gerald also urged netizens to be responsible in using social media and be wary of spreading false information.
“Dapat lagi tayo mag-research bago mag-decide on what to believe .. civilians, celebrities, news channels, let’s be responsible on what we take and put on social media and other media accounts .. we have to stay united as a country,” he said.
Gerald made headlines on social media after he was rumored to be cheating on former girlfriend Bea Alonzo. His photo with Between Maybes co-star Julia Barretto went viral online and further fueled rumors of their alleged romance.
His former girlfriend, Bea, admitted that he ‘ghosted’ her by suddenly not talking to her one day. Since then, Gerald has been receiving hate and accusations online. In his recent statements about the controversy, Gerald clarified that there was no third party involved in his breakup with Bea. According to him, their relationship was “no longer healthy” and they “have to stay away from communications.”
