- Gerald is accused of cheating on Bea with Julia Barretto
- Julia to Bea, “I refuse to be your victim”
Bea Alonzo and Gerald Anderson’s three-year-long relationship ended with Gerald ghosting the actress.
Amidst rumors and speculations of the controversial breakup that surfaced on social media last month, Gerald said he tried to reach out to Bea.
“Noong lumabas na at medyo lumaki siya, you know, I tried to reach out through our manager and personally but you know, siyempre, I respect that she didn’t respond.
“I respect that she wanted no communication. It hasn’t been easy. Alam ko it hasn’t been easy for her also,” he said on Monday, August 4, when interviewed by ABS-CBN News.
The issues between the two celebrities started after the actress hinted at the actor’s infidelity through a cryptic Instagram post.
The term ‘ghosting’ became a top trend on social media following Bea’s revelation that they did not break up and that he “just started not talking to me.”
Gerald did not directly answer if he did “ghost” Bea, ending the relationship by completely cutting communications with her.
Julia Barretto, Gerald’s leading lady in his latest film Between Maybes,”was allegedly the cause of the breakup.
In the interview, Gerald cleared the name of Julia, saying: “No one else was the reason, the cause of the breakup.
“Actually bago pa nangyari ‘yong issue or pumutok ‘yong issue, we had no communication,” he said.
He revealed that they had been having a succession of arguments that ultimately led to “one big fight,” and the realization came that the relationship was no longer healthy, and that “we were just hurting each other.”
“Umabot sa point na ayawan na talaga,” he said.
He added, “Kahit naging ganito ‘yung ending namin, it doesn’t define what we had. I will never forget ‘yung mga good moments namin na we had together. It was a lot of good moments.”
Shortly after Gerald’s interview, netizens observed that Bea liked a post on Instagram talking about “lying.”
An online post quoted John Lloyd Cruz’s character in the film One More Chance saying, “Kung magsisinungaling ka Bash, galing galingan mo naman.”
