Nadine Alexis Paguia Lustre, or just Nadine Lustre, is undeniably one of the brightest stars of ABS-CBN today. Because of her remarkable skills in acting, singing, and dancing, she has earned her place in showbiz.
But her way to success was not smooth and easy.
In the early years of her career, Lustre was one of the most bashed and bullied celebrities especially when she was first paired with James Reid in 2014.
Reid and Lustre worked together for the first time in the 2014 romantic movie, Diary ng Panget. Their first team-up was successful so that same year, they starred together again in Talk Back and You’re Dead. Since then, the two artists became inseparable.
“JaDine” was born and their love team was quickly accepted by fans. But along with the fans came the bashers. Some criticized them especially Lustre for being “not good looking” enough for Reid.
Back in 2016, the Muti-Media Princess faced criticism when she posted a photo of her flaunting her butt together with Lauren, Reid’s sister during their Cebu trip.
Apart from this, she was also constantly compared to Phenomenal Box Office Queen Kathryn Bernardo with whom she has a physical resemblance. Netizens continue to pit the two against each other even if the actresses themselves are not competing with each other.

Despite all the bashing, Lustre didn’t back down and instead, she worked her way up. She admitted that she suffered from depression, but with the support of her friends, relatives, and boyfriend James Reid, Lustre shrugged off all the negativity in her life and proved that she deserves to be respected and appreciated.
In 2015, her song “Me and You” was given a “Titanium Award” by SBS PopAsia, a known music show that broadcasts Asian pop hits 24/7.
In 2017, the Kapamilya actress topped the “100 Sexiest Women” list of For Him Magazine (FHM) Philippines. Until now, she sizzles in her bikini photos. Who would have thought that the so-called ugly duckling is now a goddess?
Just this year, Lustre won Best Actress awards from FAMAS and Gawad Urian for her 2018 box office hit movie, Never Not Love You opposite Reid.
Far from the days of just being called “Kathryn Bernardo’s look-alike,” Nadine has established her mark on showbiz. Her fans even call her “President Lustre.”
