Manila, Philippines– Duty Free Philippines (DFP) has been nominated for two coveted categories, including “Airport Retailer of the Year” and “CSR Initiative of the Year” at the 2019 Frontier Awards.
Dubbed as the “Oscars of the travel retail industry”, Frontier Awards celebrates the best of innovation and creativity within the travel retail sector.
Frontier’s distinguished panel of judges, composed of eight top executives from the industry who collectively boast a wealth of experience in the various product categories and geographical regions, selected from a large number of entries from all over the world.
DFP is nominated alongside with Delhi Duty Free Services, Dubai Duty Free, Flemingo Travel Retail Limited, Mumbai Duty Free, Qatar Duty Free Company, and The Shilla Duty Free for the “Airport Retailer of the Year” award.
“It is an achievement for DFP to be named as one of the world’s best Duty Free retailers,” said DFP Chief Operating Officer Vicente Pelagio A. Angala.
“Our entry, the newly opened Duty Free Arrival Mall at the NAIA Terminal 3 was recognized for its product mix, excellent customer service, and innovation,” he added.
The said outlet was launched in 2018 to serve the increasing influx of tourist arriving in the said terminal.
Meanwhile, DFP’s partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in launching Go Lokal!, a retail-concept store showcasing quality products created by Filipino micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), inside DFP outlets was nominated for “CSR Initiative of the Year”.
The initiative has been making Filipino products known in the international market, as well as in helping local start-ups and small businesses.
“We are very proud of this project. Aside from generating revenue for the government, we found the opportunity to help small scale companies to create more jobs, alleviate poverty, and improve the quality of life of Filipinos,” said COO Angala.
The winners will be announced at an illustrious ceremony on October 2 at Palm Beach, Cannes in France.
