ABS-CBN is set to offer a new series with a gothic romance theme titled The Killer Bride. Wildflower star Maja Salvador will portray the titular role as Camila.
The cast includes returning Kapamilya actor Geoff Eigenmann as Vito, Camila’s love interest, and the fresh team-up of Janella Salvador and Joshua Garcia, who will play as Emma and Elias respectively.
It story revolves around Camila, who is excited to marry the love of her life, Vito. On their wedding day, however, Camila wakes up holding a knife, with her dress stained in blood—causing Vito and the others to think that she took part in an unspecified crime. She eventually died in detention as the facility where she was confined in went up in flames. Many years later, Camila makes her presence felt as she seeks revenge on those who wronged her by possessing a young woman named Emma.
The upcoming series’ director, Dado Lumibao, pointed out that they are prioritizing the safety of their cast members in shooting its heavy scenes.
“But you know mga artist na sila, pag nag-in character na sila like si Maja or si Janella, parang kahit na delikado, gagawin nila eh. So lagi na lang, lagi, yung ireremind ko sila na alagaan nila yung sarili nila,” he said during the grand presscon held for the upcoming series last July 25.
After the tragic on-set accident and death of Eddie Garcia because of the Rosang Agimat series, Representative Mikee Romero, the stepson of the late actor, filed the Actors Occupational Safety and Health Standard Bill or “Eddie Garcia Law” last July 7.
The law is supposed to protect actors during their working hours by ensuring medical and emergency procedures and by deploying safety officers on their set.
“Also pinaghihirapan namin lahat. We tried to tell a story na yun may romance, may comedy, kung makikita niyo yung mga second actors talagang merong magaling sa drama, may magaling sa comedy so iba-iba sila,” he continued.
“Yun we really tried to come up with a story na talagang interesting siya. So I really hope magugustuhan ng lahat,” the director said.
Director Dado was then asked about his thoughts on directing the series with lead actress Maja.
“Actually nakakatakot.
Alam mo siya yung artista na talagang malayo pa yung eksena or yung take inaaral na niya yon so dapat lagi ka on your toes. So that’s Maj,” he answered.
In response to this, Maja was all praises for the director’s passion and commitment to his job. Director Dado headed the 2014 hit series The Legal Wife which Maja also starred in.
“So parang mahihiya ka pag di mo nagawa halos kung paano niya ginawa nung rehearsal so direk, thank you,” Maja said.
The actress even joked that she and Director Dado formed good chemistry while working on the series. The director then gave her compliments in return.
So thank you sa ‘yo, Maj,” Director Dado said.
