- Julia Barretto speaks up on bullying, accuses Bea Alonzo of encouraging hate underhandedly
- Julia Barretto hits Bea Alonzo for ‘bullying’: “I refuse to be your victim”
“You can play victim all you want, but I refuse to be your victim,” that’s how Julia Barretto addressed Bea Alonzo’s activities in the previous weeks.
It was on July 21 when Bea broke her silence on the alleged split with boyfriend-of-almost-three-years Gerald Anderson by making a cryptic post referring to making a mistake twice. Julia Barretto’s name was immediately linked to the controversy when netizens noticed that Bea had “liked” series of Instagram posts showing Gerald and Julia walking together outside a bar where they attended the birthday party of actor Rayver Cruz taken a night before. This led people to speculate that Gerald had cheated on Bea with Julia.
On Tuesday night, August 6, Julia disassociated herself from Bea and Gerald’s breakup, saying that Gerald has clarified that a third party was not the cause of his split with Bea.
Julia addressed Bea on Instagram, saying: “I believe Gerald has already made it clear that a third party was not the cause of their breakup. I would like to disassociate myself from the breakup of Bea and Gerald. Their issues are entirely their own. However, since I was brought into this mess without a choice, this is what I have to say. Your heartbreak should have been a private matter, but you have selfishly turned it into something of national concern.”
She accused Bea of bullying, saying: “Bea, you wanted to keep your hands clean by not mentioning me in your controversial post, but with a click of your finger, in your sly way, you have charged everybody to destroy me for you. You have encouraged a culture of hate by purposely liking harmless photos, putting malice into the minds of many, which resulted in the outrage of insults against me.”
She added, “You are a woman of great influence and following. You could have used that power to promote strength and grace in women, but instead, you’ve used that to promote social media irresponsibility. That is downright bullying. You can play victim all you want, but I refuse to be your victim.”
Julia also clarified that she didn’t cheat on her ex-boyfriend Joshua Garcia, as people have alleged. “Let’s be clear: Josh and I had broken up 4 months ago. We have publicly admitted it together and we have cleared that there was no third-party involved.”
Though Julia’s mom Marjorie Barretto and sister Dani Barretto have been saying that Julia and Gerald are just friends, Julia’s father Dennis Padilla supposedly talked to Gerald and confirmed that the latter is allegedly courting his daughter.
