Bea Alonzo did not show any signs of responding to Julia Barretto’s tirades against her.
Many netizens were anticipating she would fire back at Julia who accused her of ‘bullying’ for liking several posts on social media pertaining to her alleged affair with Between Maybes co-star Gerald Anderson who was Bea’s then-boyfriend.
Speaking on behalf of Bea, her unnamed make-up artist posted updates on social media about the actress.
“Actually she really wanted to thank everyone especially the fans, the hardworking people behind her, protecting her and loving her, nababasa niya lahat ng sinesend n’yo. I was with her last night. She overwhelmed with the respond (sic). Sobrang salamat in behalf of her,” Bea’s make-up artist wrote.
“She was overwhelmed with the response. We love u guys. Thank you too for all that you do for her. Group hug tayo.”
It was on August 6, Tuesday when Julia finally spoke about her alleged romance with Gerald, Bea’s boyfriend of almost three years. Through a long Instagram post, she clarified that there was no third party involved in the couple’s breakup as confirmed by Gerald. She clarified that she was now single after her split with Joshua Garcia.
She included an old photo showing a much younger Julia with Bea in her Instagram post.
A portion of her statements read: “Bea, you wanted to keep your hands clean by not mentioning me in your controversial post, but with a click of your finger, in your sly way, you have charged everybody to destroy me for you. You have encouraged a culture of hate by purposely liking harmless photos, putting malice into the minds of many, which resulted in the outrage of insults against me. You are a woman of great influence and following. You could have used that power to promote strength and grace in women, but instead, you’ve used that to promote social media irresponsibility. That is downright bullying.

That post backfired for Julia as she gained the ire of most netizens instead of their sympathy. They were displeased that she accused Bea of bullying saying that it was unreasonable. Netizens came to the defense of Bea and claimed that Julia was the one acting like a bully. The young actress became a trending topic on social media once again in the wake of the controversy.
Netizens became more doubtful about her words when Gretchen Barretto, Julia’s aunt, claimed that a ghostwriter penned the Instagram post for Julia.
Rumors of Gerald and Bea’s romance being on the rocks was further fueled when photos of Gerald and Julia attending a birthday party went viral. At the same time, Bea made a cryptic post on Instagram seemingly hinting about cheating.
Bea confirmed in an interview that Gerald ‘ghosted’ her and they did not have a formal break up.
Days after the controversy, Gerald broke his silence about the issue. In an interview, he said that there was no third party involved in his failed relationship with Bea, clearing the name of Julia. He claimed that the relationship was no longer healthy after they had numerous fights.
