- Alden Richards is being criticized by some AlDub fans after he starred in the Star Cinema movie Hello, Love, Goodbye
- The fans were presumably displeased with his previous statements about his success
- AlDub is the popular love team of Alden and Maine Mendoza
Alden Richards is relishing the success of his Star Cinema movie with Kathryn Bernardo Hello, Love, Goodbye. The movie, which premiered last July 31, has earned more than 500 million pesos as of August 13.
Helmed by blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina, the film has been a commercial and critical hit.
In an interview with PEP, the actor shared that he felt grateful and overwhelmed by the box-office gross earned by Hello, Love, Goodbye which is now showing on its third week.
“We have a group kasi, we have a Viber group. Nandun yung promoting, nandun yung cast, and everyone who was involved in the movie. So they announce kasi every 2 A.M. last week, every 2 A.M., so we get to see the progress of the gross earnings of the movie. When I saw that figure, parang I couldn’t believe it, kasi that’s the highest gross than any of my movies, na naging part ako, has ever reached. So, parang cloud-nine feeling yun for me.”
He continued: “I was in bed, parang hindi ako makabangon kasi sobra akong stunned. Na-stun ako with those figures na, ‘Am I really part of this movie? Ito na ba talaga yung kinita na kasama ako?’ Kasi hindi pa ako naka-experience ng ganito in my life. So I’m just really thankful, overwhelmed sobra.”

The actor revealed that he has watched the movie four times and he still can’t get enough of the romantic drama film.
“Four times, but I want to see it more, kasi being able to see the movie as much as I can, medyo you get into details dun sa story, how it was directed. Kasi, when we shot it, parang mabibilang lang sa daliri yung times that I went behind the camera to see the playback. Majority of it, hindi ko talaga pinapanood because I wanna see it as a whole para hindi lang ma-spoil,” Alden explained.
In the midst of the movie’s success, some fans of AlDub, his previous love team with Maine Mendoza, have started to criticize the actor. The fans were presumably triggered by Alden’s previous statements about the movie’s success, prompting them to call him as “ungrateful” and a “liar.”

AlDub was born after Alden and Maine were accidentally teamed up on the Kapuso noontime show Eat Bulaga. The two starred in the hit movie Imagine You and Me in 2016. It reportedly earned over 150 million pesos since it was first released on July 16, 2016. Earlier this year, the two agreed to make solo projects.
After the success of Hello, Love, Goodbye, fans are now clamoring for a sequel of the movie and Alden recently said that he is looking forward to it if conditions permit.
“Sana. But, as of now, we all know naman na Direk Cathy will go on a break. And then she’ll be doing two or three more movies before she rests, pero I’m looking forward to it. I hope that there will be a part two of the movie and, of course, it’s still on the… may mga negotiations pa po between parties that we need to settle before that. Siyempre, kung papayagan ba ako ng GMA ulit. Of course, if Star Cinema will [go] through sa second installment,” Alden said.
The Pambansang Bae said that he is open to any projects offered to him as long as it contains a good storyline.
“Kasi siyempre, yung sa blockbuster, parang yun nga po yung sinabi nila sa akin na yung gross is just a number. It’s really how we were able to tell a great story. It’s really the material. So, kahit sino pa pong production houses or to anyone na mag-offer ng movies, of course, we will still look into the material. Ako po, personally now, Hello, Love, Goodbye inspired me to do more films na mas current, mas maraming tina-tackle about the daily lives ng mga tao. Kasi being an actor, being seen on TV and cinemas, that’s our way of telling a story. Parang that’s our way to showcase the lives of people here in the Philippines and around the world. So it’s really up to the material po, kung maganda talaga,” he explained.
The actor is currently prepping for his upcoming primetime series tentatively titled The Gift. The cast will also include Jo Berry, Mikee Quintos, Martin del Rosario, and Rochelle Pangilinan among others. The series will be shot in Manila particularly in Divisoria.
“We’re currently taping it and it’s gonna be on primetime. And sa ngayon, we really can’t reveal much kasi yun po yung instruction. Secret muna. And then, everything will be discussed at the presscon, but abangan niyo po iyan.”
Is it possible for him to work with Maine on a movie again?
He answered: “Sa ngayon po, wala pa. Kasi Maine will be doing a movie din with BlackSheep, Star Cinema production din. So, yun po muna yung uunahin. And then, of course, we will see each other pa rin sa Eat Bulaga. Pero as of now po, wala pang projects.”
It was earlier announced that Maine will be teaming up with Kapamilya actor Carlo Aquino for the BlackSheep movie Isa Pa With Feelings.
