Teen singer Zephanie Dimaranan became the first ‘Idol Philippines’ on July 28, winning the singing contest spun off ‘American Idol’ by getting the most number of text and online votes over contenders Lucas Garcia and Lance Busa.
The singer from Biñan, Laguna got 100% percent of votes whom judge James Reid said.
On finals night held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City, Dimaranan performed her Journey Song ‘Maghintay Ka Lamang’ composed by Jonathan Manalo.

Last night, she covered ‘Lipad ng Pangarap’ as she aimed to be part of the Top 3. It was a song she considered as her “greatest contest piece.”
Dimaranan will get a cash prize of Php 2 million, a recording contract with Star Music, all-expense paid trip to Taiwan for four and a brand new house and lot.
