- Regine Angeles is now a Kapuso
- The model and actress revealed that being a Kapuso now is a “perfect time” after failed attempts of GMA to get her in the past
- After her short guest appearance in Dragon Lady, Angeles will be part of the “Throwback Pag-ibig” episode of Wagas that is set to air in August this year
One of the newest Kapuso is the former Kapamilya actress and model, Regine Angeles.
What is the reason she chose to be a Kapuso?
In a phone interview by PEP last July 19, the actress answered, “I’ve always been open to try and explore different things and different environments. I’ve always been a freelancer.”
She also revealed that GMA Network has tried to get her in the past but “the timing wasn’t always right” since she was always doing projects with her former network.
“So, I guess now is the perfect timing and I’m really excited to be here,” Angeles happily remarked.
Apart from this, the actress shared that she dreams of doing a kontrabida [antagonist] role, far different from the roles she previously portrayed.
She said, “Dream ko maging kontrabida talaga. Laging role ko noon, best friend or sister ng bida. Gusto ko nang maka-graduate sa mga ganoong roles. Sana mabigyan ako ng matinding role as a kontrabida. Yung acting vehicle talaga para maipakita ko yung mga natutunan ko sa paglabas sa maraming teleserye.”
She also enumerated the big celebrities she wants to work with at the Kapuso Network. Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Heart Evangelista, Jennylyn Mercado, and Michael V are just some of the names she cited.
“Sila yung top stars ng GMA, di ba?” she clarified pertaining to the names she mentioned.
” ‘Tsaka napapanood ko sila. Magagaling sila and I will be able to learn a lot from them.”

The 33-year-old actress rose to fame after winning Be Bench/The Model Search in 2007 and becoming a talent of Star Magic. In 2010, she decided to become a freelancer. In her 12 years in showbiz, Angeles appeared in different shows of ABS-CBN and some programs from the other network.
Her last project with ABS-CBN was La Luna Sangre in 2017 before she got pregnant with her first child with husband Van Victor Leaño.
She already appeared in the now-defunct Kapuso afternoon drama series Dragon Lady as a private investigator.
Meanwhile, Angeles, alongside Sunshine Dizon and Mike Tan will appear in the “Throwback Pag-ibig” episode of Wagas where she will portray the character of a social climber. Wagas is an award-winning romance anthology of extraordinary love stories. The episode is set to air on August.
