- The Hashtags have been absent from It’s Showtime recently
- Vitto Marquez explained the reason for the group’s absence
- Did the Bidaman finalists cause them to be left out of the show?
The Hashtags joined the It’s Showtime cast on November 11, 2015. Since then, the group has steadily risen in popularity with their charm and electrifying performances.
The Hashtags included Paulo Angeles, McCoy de Leon, Jon Lucas, Ronnie Alonte, Tom Johnson Doromal, Jameson Blake, Jimboy Martin, Ryle Paolo Santiago, Vitto Marquez, Luke Conde, Nikko Natividad, and Zeus Collins.
But fans are now wondering why the group has been missing from recent episodes of the noontime show.
Vitto, one of the Hashtags and a son of Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno, gave an answer to this issue.
Vito admitted that the all-male dance group has been absent from ABS-CBN’s noontime show It’s Showtime lately. Nonetheless, he understands why this happens and believes that this is good for the group.
“Ako, personally ha, I think it’s better for the group. Kasi we have more time to have more rehearsals, to complete a really perfect production number. Kasi ako naninwala pa rin ako sa Hashtags na kaya namin.
“Paano namin ia-uplift ulit ang name ng Hashtags – it’s by dancing. Ako mismo, I do extracurricular activities para lang gumaling ako, not only on dancing but on hosting, acting, singing, para kung saan ako ilagay puwede. And siyempre, yung mga kagrupo ko naman, I can’t control them, but they are really good friends of mine.
“Sabi ko lang, ‘Gawin mo ‘to kasi it’s for you.’ Pag ginawa mo yan para sa sarili mo, makakabuti yan sa grupo, aangat lahat, tulungan lang,” Vitto stated.

He is now part of the cast of the dance musical film Indak top-billed by Nadine Lustre and Sam Concepcion. He explained that most of the dance group members are now having hectic schedules leading to their absence from the show.
“Kasi siyempre, may sari-sarili kaming mga trabaho, mga raket, di ba? Ano ba career path ni Jameson (Blake), ano ba ang career path ni McCoy (de Leon)?
“Kasi everyone started in Hashtags, yon yung root namin. Pero paano kami magba-branch out sa iba’t ibang fields, yon ang hindi namin makokontrol kaya yon ang nangyayari ngayon.
“Si Jameson may movies na, may love team. Si McCoy sobrang galing sa drama. Si Ronnie (Alonte), nagteteleserye din. Ako naman sa dance film. I mean, you can’t control it naman,” he said.
Jameson is gearing up for his upcoming barkada movie G! with fellow Hashtag member McCoy and is set to make an iWant series titled 400 Miles with Iza Calzado. He is also part of the cast of Hello, Love, Goodbye movie.
Meanwhile, Ronnie is currently starring in the primetime series The General’s Daughter and he will top-bill the movie sequel of Vince and Kath and James with Loisa Andalio and Donny Pangilinan titled as James and Pat and Dave.
Vitto denied that the Bidaman finalists have eased them out of the show.
“Ako kasi, wala sa ugali kong magselos. Kasi siyempre, everyone has been given the opportunity to show their talent sa Showtime, di ba?” Vitto reacted.

He further explained that he was not running after the exposure and fame that can be gained on the show.
“Sinasabi nila na gusto kong magka-exposure, na parang gusto ko lang daw sumikat. Ako hindi, I have fun with what I’m doing. And being in front of the camera is my joy, nae-express ko yung sarili ko nang maayos.
“I may not get all the blessings that I can have but – let’s just na meron siyang fancy t-shirt at ako may simpleng t-shirt na puti, ang difference lang natin is mas mahal yung sa ‘yo pero parehas tayong naka-t-shirt.
“Kasi once you aim for fame, talo ka na. Kasi siyempre, paano ka makakarating sa taas na wala kang tinatapakan, dadaanan mo muna lahat ng dumi and that’s what I believe in. Para ma-feel mo na kada akyat mo sulit take the stairs not the elevator,” he said.
Vitto shared he also couldn’t believe that he was cast for the Indak movie.
“Actually, nung narinig ko po na part ako ng film hindi ako naniwala nung una, kasi maraming mas magaling sa aking sumayaw, ah, bakit ako? Sabi nila, ‘we believe in you, kaya mo yan.’ So, umangat ang confidence ko, pinush ko,” he said.
The actor also took his mother’s advice in doing the film.

“Sabi lang niya, basta tandaan mo, pag sumasayaw ka huwag mong pakialaman yung itsura ng mukha mo. You have to feel the music going to your brain, to your heart, sa katawan mo. Naniwala ako, so wala kong pogi shots sa film,” he said.
Indak will premiere on August 7 in the cinemas. It will be the first-ever dance film made in the Philippines.
