Former singer and first-ever Philippine Idol Champion Mau Marcelo reacted to her daughter Trish Bonilla’s elimination from Idol Philippines on its second week of live performances.
Trish performed an upbeat version of Erik Santos’ “Pagbigyang Muli” but she, unfortunately, forgot the lyrics of the song.
In an exclusive interview with PUSH, Mau gave her reaction about her 16-year-old daughter’s elimination from the reality competition. Is she disappointed with her performance?
She admitted that she felt sad about it for Trish possesses a good voice quality.
Mau revealed her personal choice for the first Idol Philippines Champion.
Pero ako, personally, gusto kong manalo si Lance (Busa),”she said.
Meanwhile, Mau still maintained her positive outlook for her daughter’s singing career despite her defeat in Idol Philippines.
Mau rose to prominence in 2006 when she was hailed as the first winner of Philippine Idol hosted by Ryan Agoncillo with Ryan Cayabyab as one of the judges.
She was dubbed as the “Soul Idol” and “The Black Belter” at the competition for her R&B-style vocals.
Mau also joined the 2003 contest Star For A Night, aired on IBC-13 with Regine Velasquez as a judge. Sarah Geronimo won the competition.
In December 2007, Mau was part of Asian Idol, held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Asian Idol gathered the winners of Idol franchises across Asia. However, she lost to Hady Mirza of Singapore Idol.
Just recently, Mau also joined It’s Showtime‘s ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan.’
