- Kris Aquino’s horror flick K(Ampon) is one of the 2019 MMFF entries
- Kris asked her followers if she should do her comeback via MMFF
- Kris responds to a fan who tells her to “retire”
The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has announced the first four official entries for 2019 last Wednesday.
Leading the list is the horror film (K)Ampon directed by King Palisoc, starring Derek Ramsay and Kris Aquino.
The Queen of all Media solicited her fans’ opinions about her comeback if she should push through with it or give way to another actress.
Her post, “Should I make my return via this horror movie or give way now para makahanap na ng other actress to take my place?”

While a good many of her followers celebrated the fact that she is all set for a return to the big screen, there were some who advised her to rest for the sake of her health and family.
One netizen even suggested that she should retire to “save (her) horror career” as she has no real chance of beating the predicted box-office takes of entries by the tandems of Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis and of Vic Sotto and Maine Mendoza anyway.
The actress could not help but reply, “There’s no way to beat or even equal them. Nakaapak naman sa lupa ang paa ko.”
She added: “Pero hindi masama ang hangarin na mabawi ang puhunan at gumawa ng movie na may ‘tapang’ ang kuwento.”
“Clearly underdog ako. I have had no regular free TV exposure for almost four years, unlike Bossing, Maine, Anne, and Vice so hindi ganoon kataas ang expectations—in essence less pressure.
“I saw the movie budget [and] feasible siya from a business perspective. Straight and real talk, hindi ko talaga in-expect to be chosen. Why? Kasi may entry si Robin Padilla na horror. And meron ang Ten17 productions ni Direk Paul Soriano.”
Kris also acknowledged that Senator Bong Go was included in the panel in charge of overseeing the selection of entries.
“Why would a festival under MMDA choose a movie starring Kris Aquino, right? Alam na alam kong hindi namin panahon ngayon but maybe Senator Bong Go, who is in the executive committee, is really a man who plays FAIR and looks beyond politics.
“Direchong sagot ha, kung wala sya sa committee it would be easier for me to decide. But a door was opened for me after so many had been shut. Kaya napaisip na puwede pa rin pala to go beyond our perceptions & have faith.”
Her last appearance in an MMFF movie was back in 2015, All You Need Is Pag-Ibig (formerly entitled Mr. and Mrs. Split).
The next set of four official entries will be announced in the succeeding days.
