ABS-CBN, the country’s largest broadcasting company, has again proven its supremacy as it lead in the TV ratings battle for the first six months of the year.
Taking survey numbers from Kantar Media, ABS-CBN continued to beat its archrival GMA Network.
From January to June 2019, ABS-CBN led all aspects of TV ratings survey categories.
For January 2019, ABS-CBN leads GMA Network by 15% at 45% to 30% in the nationwide ratings. Metro and Mega Manila was also captured by ABS-CBN in January as it registered ratings of 44% vs 23% and 37% vs 28% respectively.

ABS-CBN again led GMA Network by 15% in the Nationwide tally at 45% to 30%.February was the same story as ABS-CBN continued to dominate the ratings board.
All geographic areas were also captured by ABS-CBN leaving the Kapuso Network trailing behind.
ABS-CBN’s ratings in all geographical areas also increased, with Visayas registering the highest at 57% vs 23% or a margin of 34%.At the end of the 1st quarter, ABS-CBN even increased the gap as it leads GMA Network by 17% in March at 47% vs 30% nationwide ratings.

Luzon and Mindanao were not different as they also gave ABS-CBN the win at 39% to 34% and 51% to 28% ratings respectively.
AD rates and Social Media presence
Aside from winning the ratings game, ABS-CBN also boasted their lead in social media presence and influence. Currently both ABS-CBN Entertainment and ABS-CBN News Facebook pages lead against their GMA counterparts.
ABS-CBN News also leads numbers of followers in Twitter beating rival GMA News.
Same with YouTube, ABS-CBN topped the number of subscribers and total views.
GMA Network, on the other hand, charged their 30-second ad at 299 thousand pesos for non-primetime and 500 thousand for primetime.Meanwhile, ABS-CBN’s ad rates for a 30-second ad costs 900 thousand pesos for non-primetime and 1.4 million pesos for primetime.
Based on the observed volume of commercials, ABS-CBN is no doubt leading even if they charged higher than GMA since they still get most of the commercial loads.
And this can also be connected to which network is the real number one in terms of ratings because brands will put their ads in the most watched programs.
Given the fact that ABS-CBN’s ad rates cost higher but still gets most of the commercial loads, it’s safe to conclude that ABS-CBN is really winning the ratings’ game because as pointed out, brands will put their ads on the network or a show that is a ratings winner.
