The netizens’ observations were based on the Idol’s original format wherein the finalists were eliminated one by one in every episode.
In American Idol, only one contestant each week is eliminated from the group of finalists until the top 3.
That was also the format used in the Philippine Idol, the first Idol franchise of the Philippines broadcasted by TV5 in 2006. And also with Pinoy Idol which was carried by GMA Network in 2008.
Possible reasons
Prior to its airing, Idol Philippines had been widely anticipated by netizens and viewers.
But with the announcement of the roster of Idol judges, the show faced continuous backlash and criticisms.
Not only did it received criticism from netizens and ordinary viewers but several celebrities have also shared their sentiments.
Aside from the issues with the judges, Idol Philippines‘ production design was also heavily criticized by netizens who were not happy with the stage design at the start of the live rounds.
Could these criticisms have affected the show’s timeline? Or was it really scheduled that way since The Voice Kids will be airing soon?
