Donald Glover is the voice of Simba, the young lion next in line to rule the Pride Lands. James Earl Jones will star as the voice of Simba’s father Mufasa, reprising his role from the original 1994 animation and Beyoncé was revealed as movie director Jon Favreau’s first choice for the role of Simba’s friend Nala.
Apart from this, the much-awaited Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards movie Hello, Love, Goodbye will premiere a week later on July 31, 2019.
GMA Pictures is the network’s effort to reboot its movie arm after GMA Films seemingly faded into the background because of its past unsuccessful releases. Most local films nowadays are in a “dire” situation according to acclaimed director Erik Matti. The underlying reason is reportedly the domination of foreign movies and the proliferation of video streaming websites.
