- GMA Network failed to release Sahaya‘s ratings in its new timeslot
- They were also mum about The Better Woman and its pilot episode rating
- Most viewers complained about the early timeslot of The Better Woman
Bianca Umali’s epic series Sahaya was moved to an early timeslot to replace the terminated series Kara Mia. Sahaya had to battle against the top-rating action series of Coco Martin FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Rosang Agimat would have been the rival of the top-rating action series but it was shelved due to the tragic on-set accident of cast member Eddie Garcia which led to his eventual death on June 20.
As a solution, GMA Network then decided to reshuffle the programs of its Primetime Telebabad line up on July 1.
Back then, Sahaya had already established a good fight with The General’s Daughter and defeated the series several times. But due to the network’s desperate situation, Sahaya is now pitted against the longest-running action series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano of ABS-CBN.
The network failed to release the ratings of Sahaya in its new timeslot through the Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM).
Sahaya tells the story of a young Badjao woman who inspires her family and community because of her positive outlook in life. Kapuso actress Bianca plays the titular role Sahaya which translates to “light and hope” while onscreen partner Miguel Tanfelix plays the character of a simple Badjao named Ahmad who will fall in love with Sahaya. It premiered on March 18, 2019 and is the 15th show to compete against FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Meanwhile, GMA’s newest series The Better Woman took over the original timeslot of Sahaya and became the newest rival of The General’s Daughter. Most viewers suggested that the series be placed in the third or fourth slot of the network’s primetime block since it contains unsuitable themes for young audiences.
Likewise, GMA Network remained intriguingly silent about the ratings of The Better Woman for its pilot episode. The pilot ratings of a show is one the most important to determine if the show will get an extension of a few weeks or another season. Usually, one season for Philippine TV series is equal to 3 months or 60 episodes.
Top-billed by sexy stars Derek Ramsay and Andrea Torres, The Better Woman features a story of a married couple named Jasmine and Andrew who live in La Union where they own a surf resort. When Andrew heads to Manila for a business meeting, he will encounter Jasmine’s lost twin sister, Juliet. Juliet will eventually reconcile with her estranged biological family, live with her sister, and have a forbidden love affair with Andrew.
The series, which premiered on July 1, is Derek’s first project with GMA Network after transferring from TV5.
