- Claudine Barretto and Piolo Pascual will be reunited in a new movie
- The film will be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina
- She revealed some details about the film
Claudine Barretto and Piolo Pascual’s tandem first won audiences over with their 2004 box-office hit, Milan directed by Olive Lamasan. And now the time has come for a reunion.
Claudine had been on a hiatus for a long time with only a Maalaala Mo Kaya episode with Jameson Blake last April 27 as her TV appearance of late. She last appeared in the romantic-drama film Etiquette for Mistresses in 2015 together with Kim Chiu, Iza Calzado, Cheena Crab, and Kris Aquino.
On the other hand, Piolo starred his last film with Toni Gonzaga in the 2017 dark romance drama film Last Night which was directed by Joyce Bernal. Sadly, the actor recently announced he no longer wants to do teleseryes.
Fifteen years after Milan, the two will now star in an upcoming movie headed by Cathy Garcia Molina.
In an interview with reporters on July 10, Wednesday, Director Cathy revealed that she has been tasked to help the project.
“Kuwento ni direk Olive Lamasan ‘yun matagal na matagal na. Ako ay very thankful na ibibigay niya sa akin ‘yung kuwento. Gustong gusto ko ‘yung kuwento nito. This is very different, something new for both me and Piolo,” she said.
Molina also said that the movie’s taping will happen in September after she finishes the pilot episode of the comeback series of Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil. The shoot of the film may happen in Prague or in Florence.
But one thing is for sure, the movie will not be a continuation of their movie Milan as confirmed by Piolo in a separate interview with ABS-CBN News.
“Actually dapat last project ko si Piolo bago ako mag-retire. Piolo-Claudine dapat ‘yung last project ko. Pangako ko ‘yun kay Piolo. Pero mukhang gagawa pa ako ng isa kasi may isa pang taong malapit sa puso ko ang hindi ko kayang hindian,” the director said.
However, she said that she was not referring to John Lloyd Cruz who recently made a surprise phone call to her after the presscon of Hello, Love, Goodbye. But this doesn’t mean she and Cruz are not planning to work together again in the future.
“Kasi tumawag si Lloydie sa akin bago ko simulan itong pelikulang ito. Nagulat nga ako eh. ‘Ano ‘tong nababalitaan kong magre-retire ka na,’ sabi niya sa akin. So natuwa naman ako. Ang usapan namin, pagbalik ko, siya ang first film ko,” she said.
The director is now busy promoting the Star Cinema movie Hello, Love, Goodbye with its lead stars Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards.
