A viral video of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Chavit Singson has been circulating online.
In the video, the reigning Miss Universe was busy with her cellphone when Chavit, who was sitting beside her, was slowly leaning towards her shoulder while “sleeping.” However, the mayor stirred before completely leaning on Catriona’s shoulder.
The incident happened during Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman’s fight at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas last Sunday, July 21.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Chavit clarified that what happened was not intentional. He also mentioned that he had ‘jet lag’ that time, the reason for his sleepy state. Nevertheless, he apologized to Catriona.
“Sabi ko, ‘Sorry ha, tinulugan ko beauty mo,’ kako sa kaniya. Tawa nang tawa,” Chavit remarked.

As per Chavit, Catriona reportedly replied, “Hindi okay lang, next time ako naman matutulog sa iyo.”
“Kararating lang namin, hindi ako nakatulog sa jet lag. Nagising naman agad. Hindi lang umabot,” the Narvacan mayor added.
The video earned different reactions from the netizens. It even became the subject of memes on how to get a girl and what commuters feel when someone accidentally leans on them while riding a jeepney.

Even President Rodrigo Duterte teased Chavit because of his “gimmick.”
During the road inauguration in Candon City, Ilocos Sur, the President told Chavit, “Sir, you have my deepest respect. Pero ito si (Sen.) Bong (Go), napanood niya yung gimmick mo dun sa… sabi niya tingnan mo talaga ito si Chavit o.”
“Baka totoong patulog-tulog siya,” he added causing the audience to laugh.
“We can only say good luck and may the next mission be accomplished,” Duterte joked, making the crowd, including the Narvacan Ilocos Sur Mayor, laugh again.
Even so, some were offended by what Chavit did and criticized the mayor-businessman for his dirty moves a.k.a “Galawang Chavit.”
