Sun Life proudly showcased its new campaign called KAAKBAY: Stories of lifetime partnerships last July 6 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza.
In line with the campaign, ambassadors Piolo Pascual and son Inigo, Matteo Guidicelli, Enchong Dee, and Charo Santos-Concio shared their stories with their lifetime partners who supported and inspired them to have better lives.
Through the stories shared by the celebrities themselves, they wish to inspire and encourage others to seek lifetime partners who will help them reach their dreams and will support them unconditionally.
ABS-CBN Chief Content Officer Charo Santos-Concio who is more known to tell the stories of other people on the weekend anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya decided to tell her own love story with husband Cesar Rafael Concio Jr. for the Kaakbay campaign. Through a short documentary, Santos shared how her husband became her strength, and how he pushed her to reach for her dreams.
She says, “He encouraged me to pursue my dreams of being my biggest fan. I feel truly blessed to have found him and every day I am inspired to do what I can to prove worthy of the blessing that he is in my life.
“He’s my guide, my biggest fan, and my greatest love,” said Charo of her lifetime partner who is also the father of her two sons.
She also admitted that she would not be where she is now without the constant support of her husband.
“My husband is my rock, anchor, and compass. Nirespeto niya ang pagkatao ko, so parang I’m just paying tribute to the man who loved me unconditionally,” she proudly stated.
She also shared that her husband Cesar has never failed to support her in all her undertakings even when they were already married. He pushed her to fly high and loved her unconditionally despite her imperfections.

Apart from this, Charo learned from her husband who to be an effective leader of an organization.
She says, “Parang leadership is never about you, it’s about the people you serve. Don’t take things personally. This social path, if you’re going through some challenges, you must learn to look at things with detachment so that you’ll be able to make objective decisions.
“The considerations may come later but at least you’ve made a fair and objective cause. Learn from your mistakes but don’t dwell on your mistakes.
“Alisin mo iyong, ‘eh, kasi naman’ sa iyong lengguwahe o ‘alam mo, sana ganito ang ginawa ko’, kasi sometimes we tend to blame and point a finger at the world,” Charo stated.
Adding to her statement, “He taught me also the sense of accountability. Pag may mali ka, aminin mong mali ka.
“I guess, with all the experience, with age gain, when you gain experience, when you gain more wisdom, it brings you self-confidence. Mas marami kang nakakasalamuha na nare-realize mo na pare-pareho naman kaming taong puwedeng magkamali at bumangon sa pagkakamali,” the MMK host added.
The 24-year age gap between Santos and her husband was a hot issue back then, which is why they chose to hide their relationship.
On a different note, Charo was also asked about the possible return of John Lloyd Cruz to showbiz.
Is she willing to work with JL again after he left the limelight in 2017?
She says, “Syempre Kapamilya yan. Kapamilya si John Lloyd.”
